Hello kind people, My name Is Olivia, 20 years old from Sydney Australia. Just your regular student and part-time worker
I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme's Disease. A Disease that begins of a tick bug bite that can eventuate to a life threatening condition that affects the nervous system, tissues, organs , collagen and the functioning of the brain.
The pain it brings on is nothing like I've ever experienced and I'm not short of physical pain incidents.
From the moment of wake its a physical and mental pain that is so repetitve, day to day. Any movement from walking, going to sit down, reaching for something, turning over in bed is excruciating and doesnt subside.
In Australia this disease isn't recognised well, as the tick bug species that causes this disease is very rare here..so due to this circumstance Medicare/PBS doesnt cover this. A donation of any sort would help towards specialists that can help me but at a cost I can not keep up with and also 17 different medications/supplements the doctor has isnsisted and lastly all the further tests required.
To put this in perspective- Only one visit from the doctor costs me $650.00 and 1 test out of the 8 I need to get done within the next week are about $300 each and 14 others that arent as expensive.
I have had to cut down work to two working days and I get through this through with handy pain killers, that do not agree with my liver. If i had a choice not to work and be on Sickness benefits i would... although my age does not qualify as you have to be 22 years old.
Honestly this illness has been an eye opener in many ways. Life is precious and a hard time without health...also I am so very sorry to everyone in a daily struggle fighting for health.
I would be over the moon with any fund contributed so I can get back to being a normal 20 year old.
