LIFEhouse is a non-profit children's outreach ministry of LIFEchurch, located in Dacusville, South Carolina. We are raising money to build a residential sub-division of ten (10) family styled homes to care for fifty (50) Pickens County children of families in crisis.
In 2014-2015, in Pickens County, there were 486 children removed from their homes, (86% are siblings). More than 340 children are in need of a foster home. Many children are separated from their families, and siblings, and staying in temporary shelters or group homes. The need is very real, as some children are staying in hotels. Imagine a small children away from family and sibling.
LIFEhouse Children’s Project is a collaborative approach working with South Carolina DSS, and Miracle Hill Child Placement Agency (CPA) to recruit DSS licensed foster parents. LIFEhouse is recruiting potential foster parents to; 1) care for children in their home, or, 2) may lease a LIFEhouse at little to no cost.
The LIFEhouse goal is to open our first home before January 2017. LIFEhouse has ten (10) acres of land, and more than $50,000 donated already. We estimate the fully loaded cost per home to be $85.00 per square foot, (which includes all costs, including appliances and furniture). LIFEhouse homes are five (5) bedroom homes, between 2500 - 3000 square feet, and a cost of $212,500 - $255,000 each.
LIFEhouse is a hybrid approach of foster care, with wrap around support from our LIFEchurch members, offering a Christ-centered approach to children in need and in crisis.
The LIFEhouse need is immediate! There are children in need of a family foster home today. It is not about us, but about the children.
