Life Changing Surgery for Bob

Donation protected

Imagine, through no fault of your own, you live in agonizing pain and are only able to walk for minutes,

… all because of a simple nail and a defective work boot.

But now, 13-years after your ordeal began, you’re offered hope. Not just some small measure of relief, but a total life-changing opportunity to live fully mobile and without pain. To once again be a productive, contributing member of society.

Bob is living this story and we’re asking for your help, to turn his hope into reality.

Please, help us reach our goal of $185.750 for “Limb Osseointegration” surgery in Australia.

With a traditional prosthesis, Bob like many amputees, suffer severe pain from crushed compacted nerves, sores and ulcers, this even after numerous surgeries and copious prosthetic adjustments.

Bones bear weight better than soft tissue.

Limb Osseointegration simply means implanting a titanium rod into the bone to serve as an anchor for his prosthetic leg and foot. This completely eliminates the debilitating pain and time-consuming on/off process of a prosthetic leg.

Why Australia?

Because Dr. Munjed Al Muderis—the pioneer, with 500+ successful implants over 10 years—is the only doctor experienced enough to work on the smaller Tibia bone below the knee. Bob, who is 6’7” tall, cannot chance a miscalculation.

The Short Version of a Long Ordeal

In 2005, Bob stepped on a nail, which penetrated a CSA approved work boot, while working in New Orleans helping to restore their communication infrastructure after Hurricane Katrina.  Even with immediate treatment, an infection brewed—unknowingly—inside the bones of his LEFT foot.  Eight months later and only 6 weeks after we got married, the long healed wound reopened … spiralling Bob into 15-months of infections and antibiotic infusions.  Finally,  after three amputations, a toe, partial foot, and the third, below the knee, is only when the rampant infection, Osteomyelitis was finally stopped.

It was later proven by CSA testing that his work boot was found to be defective.  After a ten year legal battle, finally a settlement was reached that saw most of it immediately go to our growing debt load of expenses caused by this accident,

A few months later Bob’s RIGHT foot collapsed into what’s known as ‘rocker-bottom’ Charcot’ Foot.  The condition was caused as a direct result from the burden placed on it, after the below the knee amputation, on his left leg.  This has caused acute instability, recurring ulcers, and led to a partial foot amputation and fused ankle. Sooner rather than later, his right foot will require amputation, thereby restricting his movement even further.

Limb Osseointegration CHANGES lives

If there were no hope for change, Bob would continue to live life within the best of his limited ability, still facing debilitating pain, endless doctors visits, ongoing surgery and restricted micro-windows of activity.

But it DOESN’T have to be this way....

After 13 years, Bob has hope for the FIRST time!  Please help him receive the priceless gift of this life changing surgery.

Please help Bob literally get back on both feet. Every little bit helps us reach our goal of $185,750.   Just click the DONATE BUTTON to contribute. THANK YOU!
