Workshops with LGBT+ communities

Donation protected
1623 theatre company and Derbyshire LGBT+ need your support to make it possible to run drama and confidence workshops with people in Derbyshire who identify as LGBTQIA*.

In partnership with the charity Derbyshire LGBT+, the workshops explore identity and celebrate diversity by focusing on characters and scenes from Shakespeare's plays, playing parts and working together.

The workshops are part of 1623's project this autumn called LADY M, in which drag artist Shane Lynch creates a new act based on his own life story and the character of Lady Macbeth from Shakespeare's play.

Find out more about LADY M, which is supported by Arts Council England and Derby Theatre, at http://www.bit.ly/1623LadyM

Our aim is to open up the process by which Shane creates his new role by inviting workshop participants to identify, explore and become their own versions of Shakespeare's characters in a safe and friendly environment.

It's all about bringing people together, developing confidence and wellbeing, and celebrating how we all contribute to society while exploring the work of Shakespeare, one of the greatest humanitarians.

We need to raise £500 by the end of September 2017, so that we can pay professional artists to facilitate the workshops in Derbyshire before the end of the season.

Please support if you can and spread the word among your family, friends and colleagues.

Thank you.

* LGBTQIA stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual, Queer, Intersex/Interested and Asexual/Allies
