on behalf of Christopher Karadjov
Dear friends, This fundraiser's only goal is to try help our friend Christopher Karadjov out recover from spine-reinforcement surgeries #3 and #4. An unbelievably strong yet gentle spirit trapped in a body that took a massive hit skiing back in the 2012, and been spreading knowledge, strength, positivism, and perspective ever since. The aim is to raise $50,000 to offset the medical costs related to the 6.5 hour surgery #3 on 6/19/2018 and 6.0 hour one (#4) on 6/21/2018, both likely to surpass the cumulative $500,000 mark. To make matters dire, while still recovering from the double surgeries, Chris is also facing an  uncertain residence relocation problem, as the place he's lived at for the past 12 years has sent him a notice of lease ending by August 2018. On 6/26/2018 Chris was moved from the hospital to the rehabilitation wing of the Loma Linda Medical Center. Chris was discharged home on 7/11/2018, but still has to take intravenous antibiotics and wear a tight brace to protect his spine. He can't wait to be back to full activity by the end of July, which coincides with finding a new place to live. Please contribute as much as you can afford, as always, every little bit counts.  Thank you!

Hello friends! Unsure how to reach most of you, who were, are, or planning on helping Chris move to his new place.

This Labor day Sep 3, 2018 Snezha, Boris, Svetoslav, and myself -- we cleaned the old place, and emptied the garage. We moved quite a few items and boxes, with the largest ones (bed mattress, desk, etc) left for today Sep 4, 3018 when Boris, Petro, Petar were going to swing by, rent a bigger truck, load and move the last few large pieces.

After the move last night, around 6pm, Chris and I drove to the Memorial Hospital ER as he had high fever (suppressing it every couple of hours with medication), breathing difficulty, bad headache, and lower torso muscle pain. They took vitals, lab, blood, X-ray, and later on CT scan, with MRI being unavailable due to a Labor day MRI scheduling snafu. Chris was admitted to the Memorial Hospital Long Beach around 1am Sep 4, 2018 with doctors still unsure 100% of the fever source.

As it stands right now, 2pm Sep 4, 2018 Chris is still hospitalized and any larger scale final moving that was scheduled for today would have to be postponed until he is released from the hospital.

Thanks!

Dear friends, we are amazed by your generosity and kindness!
Chris faces new battles and struggles every day and we are going to continue our support for him!
Thank you: Bilyana, Niko, Vanya
Here is what Chris has to say to you:

“Happy to be out of the hospital, but I am not out of the woods yet. Had to learn new skills (how to put antibiotic into my veins), and now I keep on fighting some really stubborn bacteria (or maybe a few). I'm also bound to wear a tight protective brace until the end of the month, but overall it looks like my spine surgeon has done some amazingly solid hardware work and tightened my loose screw(s). Since coming home a few days ago I already survived an ant infestation, a broken pipe, a bathroom equipment failure, and managed to take care of myself and my doggie fairly well (she concurs). Next stage for me is looking for a place to live, since I've got to vacate my current apartment by the end of August. That's gonna take some persistence and luck, I know. Yet I am tremendously motivated by the support I have been receiving from my friends so far, and even from people I don't know at all! I am not the one to be at a loss for words often, but the outpouring of love has been unbelievable. People can be truly kind and life is good enough; nothing else really matters <3

Friends, here is a message from Chris today:
"My dear friends, the ability to take a shower for the first time in 18 days was like being in heaven for me! True, because of all the spinal precautions that I'm under and with a zillion tubes still sticking out of my surgical incisions, that's a pretty complicated process. But I've had a wonderful therapist, who helped me out, and we got it done in no time (well, a couple of hours). Now if I only could kick out that damn bacteria refusing to budge despite the IV antibiotic, life will be beautiful again. You don't need that much in the end."
