Let's Help Chris Kick Cancer's Ass
Our friend Chris Joseph is not your average guy. Nope. He's funny as hell. Sharp as a tack. And deeply loving and connected, despite his insistence that he's anything but.
He's also a dedicated and impassioned father (of two). A (loving) ex-husband (of two). The (unbelievably lucky) boyfriend of (one) remarkable woman--and the step-boyfriend-dad (ish) to her (one) seriously adorable son.
He also happens to have cancer. An icky one... Pancreatic. One that's taken his heart, mind and spirit in many directions. Some full of resolve and determination. Others rife with fear and dread.
A cancer with odds that are daunting.
A formidable opponent...
And a total mf-ing drag.
After going the traditional chemo route to beat this thing, Chris' body retaliated and resisted. His cancer neither retreating nor relenting--instead growing and asking: "Is that all you got?"
Never one to settle, and always the adventurer, Chris responded with a big idea. A big risk. And an even bigger f-u to cancer: If I can't beat this with traditional, FDA-approved strategies and techniques (he thought), I'll go overseas where more progressive treatments are available... and more importantly... working. Shortly thereafter, stronger than ever in his resolve, Chris found a cancer treatment program in Frankfurt, Germany. One that's working. One that's employing alternative techniques, technologies and methods to kick some serious cancer ass.
His plan is to be there starting April 21, for about 23 days--to take a chance on dendritic stem cell therapy and daily IV's containing different things from immunemodulation to anticancerogen. He'll also undergo Hyperthermia to "cook" the cancer cells, Thymus injections, Ozone-Treatments and Cranio-Sacral therapy. So much good stuff, it's almost like a spa - but not at all.
Which brings us here. These German treatments aren't cheap... even with the Euro. And, as you can imagine, medical insurance covers NONE of it (no Obamacare or repeal jokes please).
So his many friends, who've been sitting by (impatiently) waiting for him to ask for help (which he never does), came up with the idea to start a fundraising campaign to pay for travel, treatment, his stay and incidentals (bratwurst, beer, etc.)
We need $50,000 - and fast.
So please open your hearts, open your minds, open your wallets. Help in any way you can. Every penny counts-- and April 21 is just around the corner.
Thank you in advance and much, much love.
-Chris' Peeps (all of whom need him around to make them laugh [and cringe] for many years to come)
