In memory of Lester Virgil

On behalf of the LAX Airport Operations team allow me to pass our deepest condolences on the recent passing of our dear friend and colleague, Lester Virgil. To say he was a larger than life character would be an understatement. With his booming voice and big physique he commanded respect. Yet, Lester was known more for his smarts and his willingness to help others. Lester will always be remembered as a great team player at work and as a beacon for his family. We are all heartbroken over his tragic loss. While we grieve we are also filled with rage over how Lester was taken from us and from his family. We can’t fathom the idea of someone taking Lester’s life while he watched his son practice basketball. Yet, our anguish and confusion are little compared to what Lester’s family must be going through. So, it is with Lester’s family in mind that we set up this account. It is our way to say to his wife, Trekesha Jones-Virgil, his son Lester Jr, his daughters, and to his entire family that we grieve with you and that we are here for you.


Please find it in your heart to give what you can to Lester’s family. While the family did not ask for this, I am certain they would be truly grateful to receive the funds which could be used towards their immediate needs. I respectfully ask my LAWA colleagues and managers, and all those that had the privilege of knowing Lester to please come together to help his family. Thank you all in advance for remembering Lester and your willingness to give.
