Leonel Camacho Flores Recovery

Before the 8th race at Turf Paradise on March 26th, our friend Leonel Camacho Flores was flipped on by a filly that did not want to go in the gate. The filly gave no warning and violently flopped on top of him leaving him in the dirt screaming out in pain.
He goes into surgery this afternoon 3/27. In simple terms, he will have a large incision in front to try and repair his pelvis. Because of the severity of the break they are going to have to move some stuff around in order to get the screws and plates in place. Once that is finished the surgeon plans to put a rod in through his back. Barring any and all complications, he will have a minimum of 10 weeks without walking. Complete prognosis, PT time, possible future surgeries are unknown at this. The doctor says he needs to find a wheelchair accessible place to stay (currently lives in an upstairs apartment.) Its currently unknown when he will be released from the hospital. I'll continue to keep you all updated. Hes not up to talking on the phone and hasn't been well enough to answer messages but I've been relaying your well wishes to him. Please feel free to leave posts so he has something to read when he wakes up. Hes very lucky to be alive, now we can all hope for a speedy and successful recovery.
Leonel has the biggest heart and helped so many of us in so many ways. He will do anything for anybody, so we thought it would be nice to show him how much we care about him and offer him some financial relief.
