This is Leito. A 12 year old boy who has a big heart and sweet smile. He fills our hearts with love and happiness.
On September 27, Leito's life turned around drastically. He was taken to the hospital feeling very week, and after blood transfusions and several medical tests, he was diagnosed with Leukemia.
After two weeks at the hospital, his private health insurance is no longer covering for his medical expenses and, which is worst, the medicines needed for his treatment cannot be found in Venezuela, where he lives.
Leito's first Chemo should have started last Thursday, October 6th, but given the precarious health situation in Venezuela, the totality of drugs needed for the treatment couldn't be found locally and his family is desperately looking for the medicines abroad since then.
It's stressful enough worrying about a loving child going through chemotherapy and on top of that struggling to find the medicines required for the treatment and facing financial difficulties. Medical treatments for Leukemia will clearly involve costs well in excess of $15,000 USD. That comes at a high cost for this young family.
This GoFundMe account is being set up to help with these costs. We are approaching friends, colleagues, acquaintances and caring individuals, some who have never met Leito, with the hope of raising the funds necessary for Leito's treatment.
