Lena DuPont - 2017 NJOSC

My name is Lena DuPont, and I have earned and accepted a first round invitation to compete in the 2017 National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships for Air Pistol at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO from April 19th through the 25th! I am 14 years old, live in Pittsfield, MA, and I'm an 8th grade High Honors student at TEC Connections Academy. To compete in this competition is quite an honor, as only the finest junior athletes in the nation attend. This event provides the opportunity of obtaining possible future shooting scholarships and a National Junior Team appointment, allowing junior athletes like me to take their skill set to the international level. Standing shoulder to shoulder with the best shooters from across the United States makes this match one of the most competitive events that I will participate in. I began shooting at a very young age, and developed my love for air pistol about two years ago. I have been seriously competing for about 14 months. I am a member of Lee Sportsmen's Association's Air2Spare youth air pistol team located in Lee, MA, and earned a Silver medal with two teammates at the 2016 Baystate Games. I also won a Silver medal at the 2016 PPP Nationals in Ft. Benning, GA in my category for the Eastern Region, and placed 7th overall in the nation. I am fundraising to help offset the costs for round trip travel (airfare, lodging, rental car, meals, registration fee, and other associated costs) for me and my parent for this exciting opportunity.
