Leilani Recovery Fund

Saturday night(2/10/18) Leilani was on her way home from church with one of her aunts when they were hit by a drunk driver. As you can imagine, the accident was devastating!

Leilani had to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance and has suffered severe trauma including a small brain bleed, several facial fractures, and multiple fractures in her right leg and hip. She has been unconscious/sedated since the accident and has also been intubated.

There is still a lot more to figure out regarding her recovery.  Her doctors are doing as much as they can to help her come out of this as quickly as possible, but it it going to be a long road of recovery for this precious girl.

During this traumatic time, the last thing her family needs to worry about is money. Our goal is to help her and her parents, Mayuri and Jamal Palmer through this difficult time. The money collected from your contributions will be used to help pay for medical bills/hospital expenses, legal fees, days of work missed, etc.

Leilani, you are so sweet and funny and feisty, and smart. But above all YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED!!!!!  It’s not fair that this happened to you, that someone else’s selfishness and stupidity caused this. If we could trade places with you we would do so in a heartbeat!
But, we know GOD is faithful and HIS love and power will overcome the evils in this world. Psalm 71:19-21 says, “Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.” (NIV)

I realized that I updated her FB page and forgot to update our very generous donors and supporters on GoFund Me. You all have blessed us and helped us on our continuous fight to get Leilani the things she needs.
Most recently we got to finally get out of the house for some fun. We got to break in her new ADA compliant car seat and go to Hobby Lobby and buy some craft projects for Spring Break.

Tomorrow we finally get to start out patient therapies to start on her physical recovery and next week she has her 2nd round of surgery. please continue to pray for our girl. She's come so far but we are still working towards so much recovery.

I'm a little. behind on thank yous, but we have had a hectic couple of weeks full of so many blessings. Thank you for sharing Leilani's story. She is such a strong and driven little girl. Today we've had one more Christmas wish granted and our Angel face baby is coming home. we are grateful that we get to end our year with our family intact. She is stronger and has developed skills in the last 2 months. She has learned mechanisms for communicating with us. She will still have many challenges as she continues her journey learning how to sit, stand and walk again. She is taking baby steps toward getting her trach removed and I know she will be so happy when she learns how to eat again. Thank you for keeping up with us and sharing her story. please don't drink and drive.

I am overwhelmed at the blessings we have received today and every day. This year has been incredibly tough for my family. By God’s grace and love and support from people like you, we have survived 2018. It’s been some time since I have updated Go Fund Me and all our donors. So much has changed in the last 6 months. We have been fortunate to hear our daughter laugh again. She has shown that she still has cognitive and reasoning skills. She is has said a very faint ‘Hi’. She can sit up with some support. She has learned to stand with support and bear weight through her left leg. Her favorite accomplishment has been learning to swallow ice cream and yogurt. She has learned to play with her little brother again and they frequently video chat since they can’t see each other every day. Thank you so much for your support and continued prayers.
