Leia's Transplant Journey

Donation protected
our daughter Leia is now about to be 1 year old on december 10th. When she was born she was diagnosed with Billiary Atresia which is a disease that effects her liver. She went in for weekly doctor appointments up until she was 10 months old. Throughout the time up to 10 months she was very well not having very many issues at all, but then one night on a random saturday she was very irritated and we couldnt figure out why. We were finally able to get her to go to sleep at 2 in the morning, she later woke up at 5 am and we went to pick her up when she instantly vomitted a large amount of blood. Very concerened we rushed her to University Hospital where she is regerstered with the transplant team. Shortly after arrival and getting moved from the ER to the picu she then threw up an even larger amount of blood. The doctors acted quick doing an emergency breathing tube. Fast forward a month and half impatient and intubated for 90 percent of time and a lot of scares of her coding and desating. We finally recieved a call for a new liver. She recived her transplpant on the 6th of november. She survived the lengthy 11 hour procedure.  Leia is still in the hospital recovering trying to relearn the basic fundementals of being a baby her age. We are present day and trying to get her better every day to eventually return home. My husband and I have been by Leia's side since she first came in. For the full month and half that she's been here we havent been able to work or have any reliable source of income. We've been here every day through thick and thin. We need some help at this time to get back on our feet and make sure Leia will have a great home to come back to. We would like to move closer to the hospital in San Antonio because Leia will have to have weekly appointments until she is 18 years old. We currently reside in Boerne which is close to an hour drive back and forth from the hospital. moving closer would be a tremendous help and limit the ware and tear on our vehicle.  we will be back on our feet soon ,but could just really use the immidiate help with funds. anything would help and we greatly appreciate it! all three of us. Thank you.

Update! Leias arteries started to close Friday December 2nd 2017 and they had to do an emergency surgery. They re opened her transplant scar and corrected the arteries altogether which took about 4 hours of surgery to complete. Leia is now back on a breathing tube, and back to having to recover from that second surgery which puts us Back a couple weeks. She was supposed to be discharged Monday, December 4th but they had done the ultra sound Friday and found the arteries were closing, thus the reason she went into an emergency surgery to correct them. She is stable now, but most likely won’t be out of the hospital for a couple more weeks. She will be turning 1 years old on December 10th 2017, her birthday will be spent in the hospital but we are HOPING and PRAYING she will at least be well enough to come home for Christmas. Financially we are not great we have sold things we have both not been able to work during this time so things are extremely scarce. We would love Leia to at least have a great Christmas and we hope and pray for more donations to reach our goal. Please share her story, even prayers would be greatly appreciated. God Bless!
