Legal Fees To Defend Myself and my Family.

I have now been sued. Legal fees are starting to add up for me to defend myself. I am feeling a lot like I was when I was bullied for being the “fat kid” in high school. I feel like I have been stabbed in the back and then someone held their hand over my mouth so I couldn’t even scream about it.
I am now forced to defend myself legally from a lawsuit based on me trying to tell the truth about a situation that involves contracts that I signed without legal advice from a lawyer. This is now costing my family money to defend ourselves, that we do not have. Money that was meant for my children’s future education, their extra-curriculars and basic needs.
Since 2015 I wanted to bring a Keto conference to Canada to share the wealth of information available to change peoples lives for the better. Multiple sources in the community remember me speaking about this. I spent years building a wonderful community of supportive friends and fellow Ketogenic Weight Loss coaches and experts. They and you have been our extended family during the past two years which were and remain some of the most difficult for us.
As some of you know I lost my job unexpectedly when the company I worked for closed without notice two years ago. My family and I struggled to make ends meet as I was not paid for the last month of work. We had to sell our home and move among countless other personal issues we’ve spoken about privately with our closest friends and ketogenic weight loss clients.
I would like to be able to continue to spread the word about keto and how it has changed my life. After agreeing to partner with the conference, a very different agreement showed up. I believe I was given an ultimatum to sign. I agreed to sign the agreement with the conference, without any outside advice, against my better judgment. Several days later or so I was sent a termination notice after I had provided a valuable asset to the conference and secured relationships with speakers to attend the conference based on my own attendance and participation.
I believe this lawsuit being brought against me is a direct threat to my family’s only source of income. With the constant barrage of legal notices and stress, Crystal-Lee and I have been trying to juggle multiple jobs and keep calm in front of our children. It’s been difficult to function on a daily basis given the circumstances. We have lost several months of income as a result and will likely have to give up our current home if this continues.
My family and I have had a hard couple of years and though we always manage to put on a smile publicly, privately we’ve been struggling and struggle now to share this. We want to continue to help others and be a positive force of inspiration in the keto community. We refuse to give up or back down, but we need your help! As embarrassing as it is to admit we do not have the funds to fight this and could use any and all support possible.
I have not reached out to the community before no matter how bad things have gotten financially but I am NOT willing to give up on my dream after coming this far and could really use some help right now.
I believe this person knows that I cannot afford to defend myself. I was offered an “advance in pay” for signing, did not receive any pay at all, and ended up with a lawsuit against me instead. We have worked hard for many years trying to support our family and want nothing more than to move forward in a positive direction.
Any amount helps and will go towards all of our legal expenses. We sincerely appreciate all of the love and support. Even if you cannot donate, just knowing you are rooting for us by sharing would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to being able to continue to help thousands of people as I have been in my free keto challenges and to be able to continue to help build and support the keto community as I have been for many years now.
