łééchąą'sdáhí "Where The Dog Sits"

"> As an animal rescuer we see needy dogs on a daily basis. There is a sea of animals in need. This dogs story, when told by the Navajo's that live in the area, is beautiful and haunting.
łééchąą'sdáhí = "Where The Dog Sits" in Navajo, is what they (Navajos) call this area. This has been confirmed.
This dog has been abandoned and on his own for approx. over 2 yrs.  It was initially thought that the dog belonged to a neighboring home but nothing could be further from the truth. On June 6th, Jel was traveling from her home in Colorado to her destination of Crownpoint, when her father told her of this dog. Jel's own father is among many in the community that have cared for the dog as best they could. The dog was indeed there and it was evident the dog was in dire need. Jel made the post with pics on June 6th, eventually contacting Paw Trackers on June 13th. We'd already been tagged in the original post but wasn't able to review it until the 13th.
As the story is told by locals, a man traveling that road, while it was under construction, was involved in a 1 vehicle fatality. The man's vehicle contained much dog food and it was initially thought the dogs seen in this area belonged to this man involved in this car wreck. There were two. Nobody ever reported these dogs as lost or missing and nobody came to the scene of the accident looking for them. Soon, they got lost with the countless others running at large. For over a year the pair stayed together, until one fateful day last year, when the second dog, a black lab mix was hit by a car and killed. This dog, day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year, has waited for help to arrive. We have come. After much networking, a trapper with Soul Dog is going out tomorrow, June 16th to attempt to trap him. When he/she is trapped, the dog will immediately be transported to 4 Corners Wolf/Dog Sanctuary, in Farmington. There this dog will receive medical attention, behavior modification and eventually placement. Again, we need your help. We set the bar high, I know. This dog has been out on his own and the chances the dog will test positive for heartworm are high. This is a costly treatment. So we have a breakdown as follows: $150 to trap/transport, $300 for 1 week behavior evaluation/modification, the rest will be for medical, including vaccination and spaying/neutering, heartworm treatment (I will be shocked if the dog is heart worm negative) and whatever remains goes to the sanctuary and towards care. There is no amount too small. You can even donate $1 anonymously. Seriously, it takes a village. Please, won't you today make a difference in this dogs life?

Yes, we're doing this a little backwards. 4 Corners sanctuary is a 501C3, so potentially your donation can be tax deductible. If you'd like your contribution to be tax deductible you may mail a check to 4 Corners Wolf/Dog Sanctuary/ Carol Sanchez, Founder
55 County Rd. 1800 Farmington, NM 87401. So why are we holding the fundraiser? Paw Trackers glued all the pieces together, texts, phone calls, messages....I've been working on this since the 13th. We've coordinated and worked out most of the logistics and we are grateful that Soul Dog Rescue has stepped in to answer the call for help. We're always grateful for infield rescue, response teams. Now we need you!
