Leeanne's Medical Fund

$129,888 of $200,000 goal

Raised by 2,537 people in 19 months
My daughter Leeanne was swimming at San Onofre state beach on April 29th 2017 and was attacked by a shark.  Leeanne suffered significant injuries to her right hip and upper leg along with significant blood loss. Leeanne remains in critical condition, however Dr's say she is doing well considering her injuries. She is a single mom with three young children who depend on her. She has a long rode ahead with several surgeries to go.  I don't know how much this will cost but she's going to need all the help she can get. I am asking for your help with anything that you can spare to help her and her children during this time! Thank you and God Bless!

Hello everyone, I would like to update you all on where I am at a year later after my attack. Firstly I would like to thank everyone with there continued support for me and my path to recovery. I am able to spend more time with my kids in between the many physical therapy appointments and I’m gaining strength with every session. I’m attaching a link to an article about how I reflect on my incident a year later. Again many thanks for all the continued support!

wondering if as a single mom, Leeanne is getting support from her children's father. News reports indicate that she is a struggling single mom. If the family would like to get in touch with me, I am a family law attorney and will donate my time to help the kids get support if they don't have it. I am also an ocean swimmer who could have been bit by that shark. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery. If the family would like to get in touch, I can be reached at 949-540-6731. Last name Flanagan. Also, my ocean swim group is putting together donations to try to help Leeanne. Stay strong Leeanne!

We were there camping with our family and walking along collecting driftwood. My son and I saw her being pulled from the water and it was heart wrenching to watch. Shouts out to the surfers who acted so quickly and brought her out and to the paradmedics who were there in minutes. We have been praying for her and her family, started praying at the scene. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/military/sd-me-marine-shark-20170430-story.html

To the lady saying she didn't drown look up dry drowning and secondary drowning. It happens when someone breathes in small amounts of water during a struggle, that triggers the muscles in their airway to spasm and make breathing difficult. Pulmonary edema and fluid will form in their lungs making breathing difficult. If left untreated death usually follows.

In reading the posts, I can see some are skeptical of contributing to the go fund account. Her employer Pacific Marine Credit Union has also set up an account for donations. Some of you may feel more comfortable using that venue to contribute. Please go to www.pmc.com for more information. Prayers of strength and comfort for LeeAnne's family and friends.

My prayers to Leanne and Family. I would also like ask someone that's in charge here to maybe review and delete some of these posts. Out of respect for Leanne's family as well as others that may choose to donate. It really is unfortunate that people get way off track here.

Even if her insurance or the state, covers the hospital bills, there are other expenses relating to this type of event. Ongoing care, rent, groceries, just general cost of living expenses, definitely mount when you're unable to work. (I know this firsthand.) I also know that there are often other treatments available, outside of the insurance approved treatments, that can help in cases like this. Disability is slow to be approved, and small when it is approved. (I've been fighting for it for over a year now.) I wish I could donate, but I am financially unavailable. I have shared this page. PLEASe, if you cannot donate, be one of those who shares so that someone else can. Also, let's flood the space below with positive messages. I understand why there has been some bickering, but let's just let it go. This family needs all of the positivity they can get.

Hi, My daughter had posted this to my page, and I have posted to pages as well. We do not know you or your family, but I too was/am a single mother of three (with awesome family on their dads side) but still the struggles... We are praying for her! and of course your entire family. I just want to say that I was in tears when reading the comments and support by the Mayra and Julie and others... I was in tears to just know that there is support out there! and the system can work, and technology offers such amazing networking and support as this. The last thing that Leanne needs to do is worry if her kids are being fed, transported or cared for, this is not a burden that she needs to bear. A full recovery we ask in the name of the Lord Christ for Leanne.... "Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." (Gal 6:2) We ask for God to just shed his supernatural power of healing and peace on her.. Thank you for sharing your story and being courageous to ask the community and the world for help. 28Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (matt 11:28,29)

I heard about this on the news this morning, and it hit me hard because my family and I have camped in that area for years. I am so very sorry for your family to have to go through this... but to then have people post cruel comments about this being a "scam" when it's so easy to verify it by doing a simple online search, it rubs salt in the wounds of this tragedy. Please know that these people are the exception, not the rule, and your family is in the thoughts and prayers of many -- including mine.

It is truly wonderful to see what can be done when we all come together as human beings. joined by a moment in time that has somehow deeply touched us all. Friends, family, fellow beach goers and the entire So Cal surf community. But what is especially aw inspiring is the number of total strangers, anonymous donors. Over 600 people so far. So much love and prayers. Every dollar is very much appreciated but what I love to see is all the LOVE OUT THERE FOR LEEANNE! Gives me hope! Keep it COMING~

May Gos bless her and pull her through this. I wish I had the finances to even donate a tad- unfortunately I do not. I also have a campaign on here and have been questioned and have had comments that I'm a liar, scammer, fraud, etc. Long story very short- fell 2.5 stories in March of 2016- have not been able to work since then and have had 4 major surgeries since then- last one on 4/17 and stayed hospitalized until 4-20 OF 2017. Back to this story- it's so disgusting that people question ANYTHING that is written here regarding this woman's attack . Leanne- god bless you and may you pull through this for your children and for yourself. I'd and when I am able to donate anything - I will. Until then my thoughts and prayers are with you and your kiddos!
