A Student Lunch Debt is what students get when they cannot afford lunch. They are given food and an IOU.
Having a lunch debt is a daily reminder of stress from things outside of your control and a form of embarassment for students. Receiving the "alternate lunch" while better than no lunch, is not the best solution.
I'm raising this money for LCMR District and other Lower Township Area schools to pay off existing student lunch debts.

LCMR School District students have a total outstanding lunch debt of ~$8750. This is a small but direct way to help the kids in our community most in need.
I'm meeting with Superintendent Kobik on 3/29 to talk about how we can work together and how best to give the money to the school. The money will be withdrawn either directly to a bank account associated with the schools or to a local charity and then a check will be written from the charity's account.
update: I met with Superintendent Kobik - the issue is complicated because most of the debt is owed by "full price" students who really should be on reduced lunches. We're working with the LCMR Education Foundation to find a way to incentivize the students and parents to get signed up for the reduced or free program so we can solve this issue long term.
Every dollar donated will go directly to pay off existing student lunch debt and any extra money will be donated along with it to help create a program so the students dont end up in debt again. That's one of the things Superintendent Kobik and I will figure out on Thursday.
