We are a group of lawyers, legal academics, retired judges and constitutional specialists who came together to campaign for a Leave vote in the referendum. Now that the country has voted to leave the European Union, we have also been joined by many lawyers who supported Remain but now wish to work constructively to make sure the exit process is carried out in the best interests of the United Kingdom.

We are an all-volunteer group and are putting our time into a range of legal projects which are vital to getting the UK out of the EU and recovering control of our laws, our economy and our borders.

We need funding to get our vital work published and to bring it to the attention of a wider audience in politics, the media, the legal community and the general public.

I am delighted to say that thanks to the generosity of all our donors - and one large donation received in the last few days - we have now hit and exceeded our funding target of £25,000. We have had a wide base of generous support, receiving donations from nearly 300 people ranging from £5 to some very generous donations of £1000 or more.
This money is vital for our work, which gets ever more intense thanks to the need to pull apart the huge flaws in the Chequers plan and to propose constructive and workable alternative policies which will actually succeed in getting back control of our laws from the EU. I have tried to send a personal thank you for each and every donation received and if any donor has not received one then this is an oversight for which I apologise.
Despite hitting our £25000 target, we are keeping the campaign open for new donations since the extra activity resulting from combating Chequers will mean that we are likely to need more.
With best wishes and thanks to all our donors, Martin

We are really grateful to everyone who has contributed to our appeal for funds. This has so far raised well over £5000 from more than 40 donors, with donations ranging from £10 up to £1000.

We are truly grateful to everyone who has contributed, and all donors should have received an individual thank you message. This has allowed us to get on with the most urgent and vital work, which is bringing our website up to scratch, as well as allowing us to launch a new report on the EU’s financial claims (jointly launched by us and Charlie Elphicke MP and the European Research Group) and a major paper on adjudication of post-Brexit treaty rights which is due for launch in the next week or so.

We are also grateful for all those who have volunteered to do work to help our efforts. The new website is now constructed at a technical level, but one vital task is to edit its content and bring it up to date. This is essentially legal and not technical work, and any volunteers who have time and inclination to assist in this task over the next 10 days would be much appreciated: please email admin@lawyersforbritain.org if you would like to volunteer.

With best regards,

Martin Howe
