Lawrence's Graduation Charity Fund

Tax deductible
Hello EVERYONE and Thank You for taking the time to read about the life of my husband Lawrence Manker Jr.

On February 7, 2008, my husband, Lawrence Manker, Jr.'s entire life was changed in an instant. He was one of the many injured in the horrific explosion at the Imperial Sugar Refinery in Port Wentworth, GA. We are so thankful to God for His blessings, as Lawrence is one of the survivors. We also give our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers in Augusta, GA at the Joseph Still Burn Center for their excellent service and care.

During this tragic time, we were among many family and friends who were frightened and afraid for the trauma our beloved family members endured. Lawrence being especially blessed, has grown and prospered through all the countless surgeries, treatment and care; for that I am so grateful.

Lawrence and I, Vanessa Manker, married June 28th, 2014. Lawrence is an absolute joy and has shown more strength and courage than anyone I know. He has never let his ‘circumstance’ stop him from moving forward toward his life-long goals. Lawrence will be graduating from Savannah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, December 2015. I love his spirit and am so proud of his tenacity, that in spite of the odds against him, he never quit!

Because of the joy and my being so proud of him, I will be giving Lawrence a graduation party in January 2016.

Lawrence would be very proud that his family and friends would make a donation in his name to the Joseph Still Burn Center through Southeastern Firefighter Burn Foundation. So, in honor of his graduation, that is what I’d like to do, setup a fund in his name. This fund would help families in need of assistance. The fund would support patients with medication, anti-scarring garments, transportation for follow up medical visits, and peer support, as well as, help families of burn patients with lodging, daily meals, and transportation.

During the graduation festivities I want to present him with the donation amount that will be made to the hospital on his behalf.

Again, I thank the doctors, nurses, fire fighters, and the many other first responders for their service. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes from our many friends and family.

Respectfully,
Vanessa Manker
