Laura's Kidney Campaign

Laura was born with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease, with Congentital Hepatic Fibrosis. In April of 2006, she received a life saving liver transplant at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Despite a very rough first few years post transplant battling rejection and CMV (a virus she got from her donor), Laura was still able to graduate high school on time, thanks to outside tutoring and, chose to go to college to become an RN. 

Over the last year or so, Laura's kidney function has declined significantly, to where she is unable to work in her field, and is now currently listed for a kidney transplant as of June 8th, 2017 out of Massachusetts General Hospital.  In addition to being on the kidney transplant list, Laura is also being worked up to start dialysis in the near future while she waits for a kidney. Furthermore, during one of the last trips to Boston, some routine lab work was done to check the function of the transplanted liver, and her liver numbers were elevated indicating a bout of liver rejection, which has resulted in some medication changes, and also requires multiple trips to Boston for appointments and biopsies to make sure the liver rejection is being corrected. 

Laura is now currently residing in Upstate NY to be near her parents at this time, however, the frequent trips to Boston for doctor's appointments, biopsies, and other medical testing, is causing some financial strain. 

This GoFundMe page was created in order to help relieve some of the financial burden, so Laura can focus on getting healthy at this time.
