Larry Clisby Cancer Fund
Friends of the Cliz and @PurdueBasketball, @boilerball
Larry Clisby -- the voice of Purdue Men's Basketball -- and recent inductee to the Indiana Sportswriters & Sportscasters Hall of Fame, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and Metastatic Brain Cancer.
Larry has limited healthcare coverage through Medicare, and needs complementary medical treatments that are very costly and crucial to his recovery.
Funds will be used to assist with treatment, care and comfort needs specifically tailored to address the cancers Larry has been diagnosed with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and any funds not used will be donated to the National Foundation for Cancer Research ( www.nfcr.org).
Coming at you with gratitude and love, and with some promising news to share: Basically, Larry and his dedicated team of docs, staff and loved ones are living the promise to #KickCancersAss…
New scans show that the chemo treatments have been effective against the cancerous spots and shadows that were identified in the neck and abdomen. Treatment is ongoing, but after Larry’s most recent chemo treatment – completed on Tuesday, 9-18 – protocol will switch to just immunotherapy.
NO MORE CHEMO FOR NOW.
This does not mean Larry is cured, but it does significantly change the game regarding treatment and is a very positive step forward in the battle.
Larry and Michelle send their love and sincere thanks for your ongoing support and are more and more assured each day that the Cliz will be back behind the mic in November calling games.
After a week long visit to the home base of Lafayette in August, where Larry was the focus of much love and attention from family, friends and fans, Cliz returned to sunny (and hot) Central Florida to continue his chemo treatment.
As of this writing, he is responding well and feeling upbeat and in good spirits. Meetings with specialists have confirmed his choice of treatment as the best for his type of cancer, but there remains a long road ahead...so please keep sending your prayers and love.
Cannot adequately express our gratitude for your generosity, kind words, and encouragements. Larry reminds himself every day of his good fortune and sends his love and affection to each and every one for their support.
