Trans + Disabled Muslim trying to fund Top Surgery
Donation protected
Hello my name is Atlas! I'm a 19 year old Transgender Muslim residing in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 6th grade, I shattered the growth plate on my right ankle, and it never properly realigned, causing my foot to turn inwards which renders me unable to properly walk without being in mild pain. Due to this disability and my weight, my back recently has been causing me a lot of pain, and now I walk with a cane in order to properly balance my weight out.
I've learned to live with this disability , but on October 2018 I was discovered to have severe anemia, my appetite has weakened severely and my health is relatively worse for wear. For a moment, my doctor was fearful I may have developed Leukemia, however through many blood tests and trials we've seem to stay at a standpoint that it's just my poor diet and health due to my anemia.
My living arrangement is relatively poor, my parents are incredibly trans-phobic and wish nothing to do with me, I've been sneaking my testosterone shots at my friends house, and working with a doctor who waves my office visits so I only have to pay for blood work and the prescription, but I can't keep hiding this forever, I am in danger if I go home, as I was threatened with gun violence.
EDIT: As of April 29th, 2019, I had no choice but to return home to continue pursuing my education in Funeral Services. While many of the threats have died down due to the observance of the religious holiday of Ramadan, I still receive a lot of back lash due to my very obvious transitioning.
Since donations have started, I've managed to purchase my car from my parents and fully attach it under my name. If the worst were to happen, I would at least have my car as my legal property to keep me afloat.
I've been dealing with a recurrent upper respiratory infection, and high blood pressure. Doctors have shown concern that if my stress levels get any worse, along with my health, weight, and other societal factors, I could be at a severe risk of a stroke.
While I'm no longer in immediate danger of homelessness, any and all donations made after this edit are both to help pay for classes and for me to begin the saving process of getting gender confirmation surgery in the form of top surgery.
Every dollar will help incredibly and push me closer to living a safer, healthier life.
Thank you.
