Labrador Retriever shot in face

Mack, a sweet Labrador Retriever owned by a dear friend and co-worker, Debbie Bell and her granddaughter Hayley Bell, was cruelly shot in the face on Monday, Memorial Day, 5/29/17, on Camano Island, WA (by an as yet unknown person). The bullet entered on one side of his face and exited on the other side. He underwent a complicated surgery - his jaw was shattered, as were most of his back teeth, and he had lost 60% of his blood. So far he is doing “OK”, but the vet bill is very large, and will continue to grow with further care (missed work, etc.).
This Gofundme is to help his owners, Debbie and Hayley, with the expenses incurred due to this horrifically cruel act of violence. Debbie is not only the hardest working person I know, but also the nicest and kindest person you could ever meet, and someone who would go without for herself to help others in need without a moment’s hesitation. She embodies the friendly, giving and caring nature of this island community. Her dogs are family and it is unfathomably that someone would do something so horrible.
All that is known at this time is that people on neighboring acreage heard a gunshot at about 9:45am, and shortly after that a red full size pick-up truck drove onto Debbie’s property, and left when someone came out of the house. That person then noticed blood on the ground and tracked it to Mack who was in the barn. Subsequent investigation (and backtracking the trail of blood) led to a large pool of blood about 50’ onto an adjacent unoccupied acreage, where Mack had been shot. The police are investigating, and are hoping someone else sighted the red truck and can identify the driver. (case #17-I09390 )
Any and all donations to help alleviate the financial stress of Mack’s vet bills are greatly appreciated. (Debbie would never ask for help but I’m hoping that we can take the financial worry out of this tragic event so she can put her focus on Mack’s recovery. She works two and three jobs as well as the work on her small farm, just to make ends meet, and the initial vet bill is $2396.98).
