"Hard to believe today marks a year! Can't believe it was today last year that my life truly was turned upside down. But I'm here and I'm coming back! Yes it's hard but I know my God will be with me every step of the way! Just like he was on February 1st and all the days that have followed!! Wouldn't be here or recovering as well as I am without my Savior! Thank you all so much for the prayers and the always perfectly timed messaged or calls!"

Today, God used 5 year-olds to remind me that He has and is continuing to perform miracles!!
Josh Speidel has been increasing the amount of walking he does at school. Even though there is never a shortage of students willing to push him around the building, the wheelchair allows him to be safely independent! Today was the first day he walked into Heather Kasting's kindergarten classroom to assist. He asked if I would push the chair to her classroom while he walked. He opened the door as the students were sitting on the floor gathered around Mrs. Kasting. A little girl, "L", jumped up and said, "JOSH IS WALKING!! JOSH IS WALKING!!! HE'S GETTING BETTER!!! The other students began cheering along with her. Another student said, "He has new glasses!!" While yet another said, "He got a haircut!!" Josh responded in classic Josh fashion, "Yep, walking and talking, that's me!"
As I walked back to my office, I thanked God for all He has and is continuing to do in Josh's life. I also realized that I'm missing and taking for granted so many "little things"! Walking, something that just a few short months ago Josh was unable to do without LOTS of assistance. Heck, everything required LOTS of assistance. Josh is "not suppose to be here" with us but God has different plans!
As I write this, I'm listening to Josh sing along with one of the contestants on The Voice as they sing Miley Cyrus', "The Climb" and my tears just start flowing. Singing is another one of those "little things" that I took for granted. Josh was unable to get his words out fast enough to sing along not so long ago. To hear him sing, especially this song was therapeutic on a couple of levels.
"Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high
There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing,
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on,"
God is GOOD! The #JoshStong marathon continues full steam ahead. Thank you for praying and believing with us.

Hey #JoshStrong marathon runners! Check out the video! Josh has been working incredibly hard. PRAISE!! It's the first time in just shy of 7 months that he walked and dribbled the basketball! This is huge!! Every other time he has shot baskets his walker was in front of him for balance....not this time! Dave is barely holding the gait belt. I'll also post a video of Josh blocking out and a post move. As Josh continues to say, "Slowly but surely!" And, we all continue to say, "God is GOOD in all circumstances!"
Another praise... Josh had another follow-up with his IU ophthalmologist yesterday. She told us that after her first evaluation at RHI she was unsure if his vision and eye function would ever fully heal. Guess what, IT DID! His prescription changed so new glasses were ordered. He has a follow-up in 60 days and she thinks he won't have to come back to see her again! Wow, wow, wow!
A bit of exciting news, Josh has been approved to begin working at my school, Brown Elem., a few hours per week. He will be a reading and math tutor on the days he is not traveling to Indy for therapy. Mr. Hooker presented the idea to me before school started. Josh then presented the idea to his doctor and therapist. They too thought it was a great idea. The school board approved tonight. Josh is excited. It's a great opportunity for him.
Prayer request: * Kathi S. was one of the nurses that cared for Josh at Select. Her husband passed away. I don't think he was even 30. Please keep her and their family in your prayers. *please continue to pray for wisdom for the doctors as they address the tremors on Josh's right side. We had to introduce the medicine very slowly so we have one more increase to go. We know God is bigger than the tremor. *also, pray for Josh as the majority of his friends have moved to college. It was a challenge for all of us last week.
Thank you for continuing to support and lift Josh and our family in prayer. We love and value each of you. Keep running the race..Joshua 1:9

God continues to show His power and love through Josh's forward progression and the people that continue to cross our paths. Last week, we met a new neurologist. The three of us immediately felt comfortable and blessed to have an appointment so soon. There was a cancellation so we didn't have to wait 2 months. She walked in the room and said, "Josh, you are the man! We were just looking at your MRI and reading the notes. Wow, you all are doing something right." She will help address the shaking on the right side that Josh has developed. It doesn't occur all the time. He has started a new medication. Please join us in praying Josh responds well to the medication.
Saturday, Josh sat on the bench and helped coach Kevin Johnson's basketball team for one game. It was so encouraging to hear him talking about it. He seemed to really enjoy himself.
The time has finally arrived for me to return to work. Please pray for our transition. I worked a couple days last week. When I called Josh announced Dave should be fired or he needs to spend the day "training" with me. It should be an adventure for all of us .
Thank you for continuing to run the #JoshStrong marathon with us. You are carrying us. Keep praying and believing! God is GOOD!!
Keep fighting Josh!! God is good! link text
Seeing your updates make me so happy, josh. You won't remember me but I spent many hours giving you secret pep talks while you were in the ICU. I told you to fight and you are. This latest update is the best news I could have wished for on this beautiful Saturday morning. Keep fighting, sweet boy. This victory will be so sweet. As always, you and your beautiful family are in my constant thoughts and prayers.
Just read an article on you. What talent you have on and off the court. TBI's are so mysterious. I have an eleven year that received a TBI at age 4. He had to relearn everything he accomplished in preschool. He is doing great now. We still, have some issues but everyone has issues. I also work with several individuals who have TBI's they all have so many talents and so much to offer. My prayer is that you will keep your mind set on making that three pointer and guard yourself from all negative players. Stay positive even when you don't want too. NEVER give up even when the professionals say,yo have done all you can do, because they are not you, you find that fight inside and keep going. Find yourself a TBI support group for you and your parents and friends. I can't wait to hear about your adventures in College. God bless you, a fan from Hannibal Missouri.
Keep fighting Josh!! God is good!
So good to get these updates, it's looking very promising. God is good!

I also would love to buy a joshstrong shirt..wanna wear it on ESPN XXL ..please advise!!!
Does anyone know where I can get a Josh Strong t-shirt by any chance?
If anyone out of town wants decals they can get on PayPal and go to send money to firstname.lastname@example.org and in message box leave mailing address and then I will get address and money to jada..they are $5 each.. thanks
I would like to get 10 stickers. Will you be able to send them to me in Vermont? My email is email@example.com
I have contacted the school about shirts, so I will ask about the decals, as well. Thank you so much!
Ok but the school is who is selling them.. I just am the one making them. I just put my page on here cause everyone was leaving me messages on here and I might not see them. I don't personally know josh or his family but heard about what's happening and wanted to help. So if anyone wants a decal you can get a hold of me and I can get you one through the school cause I have almost got them all done and will be giving the rest to them. And if they need more I can make them more but I figured 560 is a good start
I found you! Thanks!
