Kyle Nardon's Brain Tumor Fund

Dearest friends, family, colleagues, angels, and anyone else who may be touched by this story,

My amazing son Kyle, whom many of you know and love, has a brain tumor.

Kyle is 22, a senior at WSU, a Delta Tau Delta, majoring in Finance, and a very proud member of the US Airforce ROTC program. Kyle is a wonderfully kind human being.  Loving son, grandson, big brother, little brother, nephew, cousin, loyal friend, honest hard working, concientious young man, who lives a healthy life style.

After years of hard work and training he received a coveted "Remotely Piloted Aircraft Slot" (no easy task) and received his orders to start pilot training in July, 2017 just two months after graduation.  Last Month Kyle was flown to Ohio to get a series of routine tests, as all prospective Pilots do. He kept me informed, daily as he aced the indepth testing of his eyesight, bloodwork ect...Kyle has wanted to be a fighter pilot since the age of four, and here he is, a few tests away from making his dream a reality.  So, when Kyle called early on the morning of September, 28th, I was expecting to hear, "mom, I Made It!", instead I was asked "Mom, what are you doing" I replied, 'I am cutting chicken for the dogs" Kyle, my kind, humble, driven, and focused, baby boy, said "Mom, you need to sit down"...uh, ok...yeah this is big, I'm about to hear how my boy is about to realize his dream of being an Air Force pilot, and hell yes, I needed to be sitting down for that! Instead, I heard, "the Airforce Dr went over the results of my MRI this morning...they found a brain tumor" My world came to screaching halt...time stopped...I spent the next few days in a state of numbness, denial and heartbroken despair... I hope no one ever has to hear the unfathomable news that their child has a brain tumor.

Since the news we have traveled to meet with two top Neurosurgeons and had a more indepth MRI...Kyle most likely has an Enpendymoma (won't know for sure until it's removed), it is located on his brain stem and dangerously close to his spinal cord. The only option is a Craniotomy (brain surgery) with the hopes of 100% removal as these tumors have the potential to spread through the spinal fluid to other parts of the CNS. If it is not completly removed, the next step would be radiation.

We have a lot of unknowns ahead of us...My complete focus is to assemble the best medical team, surround him with lot's of love and support, and provide him with anything he could possibly need before, during, and after his very delicate surgery.

He remains strong, optimistic, and determined.
Kyle is insistent on finishing this semester, and having his surgery over the holiday break so he can coninue on realizing his dreams...

I'm writing this today in the hopes that you will rally around Kyle, and help in any way you can. Whether it be a prayer, a positive thought, a donation, a message, or a share...anything will mean the world to our family.

I believe he can fly!
