Kyle Knuth Youth Sports Fund

Donation protected
On Sunday May 22nd of this year a dear son, brother, friend, teammate, and my former player went to be with his Lord at the age of 20.  Kyle Daniel Knuth is hard to describe if you didn't know him - not because he was quirky or weird, but because you would run out of space for the words and time for the stories. The ninth of ten children, Kyle was loved by people older and people younger while bringing a smile to those blessed enough to be in his life. If you had to boil it down to a word...he was selfless.

One of Kyle's passions was basketball. He played varsity as a freshman and ended up a senior captain on teams that won a state title and made back-to-back

national Elite 8s. Wanting to both work on his game and be amongst friends, Kyle spent hours at The Gathering Place (a non-profit ministry outreach of Community Church of Greenwood & the home gym for his high school team - the Indianapolis Homeschool Wildcats). Whether inside the gym or out, Kyle was an encourager. He looked for players/people who might be down and humbly tried to lift them up. Kyle's demeanor was so unique that rivals, though opponents, were even some of his closer friends.

The Gathering Place, in conjunction with Wildcat basketball, wants to start a fund that will both help people to remember Kyle and quietly help provide athletic opportunities for kids whose families may not have the money to participate in basketball, soccer, flag football, and baseball/softball youth leagues at The GP.

In order to maintain the facilities while providing uniforms and officials for these youth leagues, participants are charged a registration fee, which (though less than many athletic leagues) for some families is too much. Through the Kyle Knuth Youth Sports Fund, The Gathering Place will provide registration scholarships for families that are in need and increase the potential for sharing the good news of the Gospel through youth sports while still being able to cover operating costs and keep registration fees lower for other families.

Also, The Gathering Place would like to devote some space within their facility to honor Kyle's life and his play with the Wildcats by setting up a Kyle Knuth Memorial Wall of Honor inside the facility.

The Indianapolis Homeschool Wildcat basketball team is planning to honor Kyle by holding a Kyle Knuth night during its opening home game in The Gathering Place vs. Living Water on Saturday November 5th at 8:30pm. Proceeds from that event combined with this fundraiser will pay for constructing that memorial and act as the start-up money for this Kyle Knuth Youth Sports Fund.

On behalf of the Knuth family, The Gathering Place, and the Indianapolis Homeschool Wildcat basketball program, thank you so much for helping us remember Kyle and assist kids in enjoying sports the way Kyle did.
