The Ask
Demonstrate your love for Leland and consider helping our friend and neighbor, Kate Vilter, as she embarks on her mission to rebuild our treasured landmark, The Riverside Inn.
The Story
On Friday, October 19th at 4:15am, the Leland Volunteer Firefighters responded to a 911 call at the Riverside Inn. They arrived to find the kitchen in flames. Inn guests were immediately evacuated as the fire and smoke quickly spread throughout the building. Although the Leland Township Fire & Rescue Responders acted expertly to save the property, the fire and smoke damage was extensive.

The Status
Since the fire, Kate and her staff have been working to put the pieces back together to reopen the Inn. Meetings with insurance adjusters, claims departments, contractors, and several supportive friends have filled their days. Throughout it all, Kate has remained determined and she hopes to begin the rebuild effort in January. However, while Kate’s insurance coverage was comprehensive, there remains a significant gap between what insurance will cover and the true cost of rebuilding the structure, reinstating lost wages and regaining the loss of business. This is where YOU can help!
The Support
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to support Kate and the Riverside staff in the mission to rebuild and reinstate our neighborhood landmark. Your critical support will help:
· Rebuild a safe and operational kitchen
· Restore front entrance and first floor rest rooms
· Reconstruct four second floor bedrooms directly above kitchen
· Repair roof structure and air ductwork
· Replace bar flooring, first floor furniture, and light fixtures
· Repaint and re-stain damaged areas
