Fowler Strong Las Vegas Shooting
Kurt Fowler, A resident of Lake Havasu City and A Firefighter with Desert Hills Fire Department was shot and seriously injured in the horrific mass shooting at the concert in Las Vegas. Kurt’s surgical team has completed the surgery on Kurt’s leg and the doctors are optimistic. He will have to go through an extensive recovery and rehab that could range from 7 to 10 months before he can return back to the job he loves. His brothers from the Desert Hills Professional Firefighters 4543 are reaching out to all friends, family, and neighbors to donate money to help alleviate this burden. Thank you for taking time to read this and please keep Kurt and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time. God Bless+ Read More
I'm sorry, I know it has been awhile since I have posted an update. Each week and months was going by with no change in Kurt's leg. On Tues Jan 30th Kurt had a 2nd surgery on his leg and stayed in Sunrise Hospital for 4 nights. Dr removed bone from Kurt's pelvis to do a bone graft on his tibia. He also put a plate on his fibula with four screws. The surgery went well however Kurt has been in a ton of pain. We were able to come home yesterday. It was definitely hard to go back to where it had all started. We were blessed to be in the same floor with the same nurses from his last stay. There are not enough words to express my gratitude and love for the people at that hospital. Kurt will be non weight bearing for another 6 to 10 weeks. As you can imagine this has been a very trying time for him as he is starting over from scratch. We look forward to seeing some healing. We go back Feb 14th for more xrays and to get his stitches out. As always our hearts and prayers continue for all those suffering from the loss of loved ones and injury. We have a long way to go on this road to recovery, but through the power of prayer, love, and positivity we will make it through. Thank you for following our story.
Kurt and I went to Vegas today for his appt. These are two X-Rays from today two different views. Both of these xrays were taken yesterday Jan 3rdd. Unfortunately we got some good news and some not-so-good news. His small bone the fibula is healing. The large bone the tibia is not. Doctor said he wants to see him back in 3 weeks because by then he believes the fibula should be completely healed. If it is healed he will go ahead and schedule surgery on the tibia and do a bone graft. It was a very emotional day for Kurt. He is not looking forward to coming back here to the hospital I'm going under the knife again. He will continue to be non weight bearing. We know with all the prayers and support that everything will go well and we will keep our heads held high through this trying time.
Just wanted to wish everybody a Happy New Year. We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I do not have a new update yet. We go back to Vegas to the doctor on January 3rd. Kurt is hanging in there. We both still have some rough days. I have been having quite a few nightmares lately. It doesn't seem possible that it is already going to be January. As always we are incredibly thankful for each and everyone of you. I will post update when we get done at the doctor on Wednesday
