I would like to clarify that this is an effort started by friends  who feel compelled to come together and help.  Jam and family did NOT ask us to start the campaign, rather, we felt that we had to, as friends , come together and help somehow. This platform, administered by me, makes it clear and transparent and makes the logistics of us all coming together much easier.

Every one who donates will recieve an email and screenshots from me once the transfer has been completed. 

REQUIRED DISCLOURE:

I have been contacted by GoFundMe, and been informed that i am required to indicate how the funds will be delivered to the family.

I confirm that i will be withdrawing the funds to my Canadian Bank Account (GoFundMe only sends withdrawals to US or Canadian Accounts)  and delivering them to Jaameeta in Kenya via mPesa (Kenya's mobile money transfer system), using SendWave where all transactions are recorded and can be disclosed. NO CASH TRANSACTIONS WILL BE MADE, for accountability purposes. 

I have provided GoFundMe's payment processing service (wePay) with all my personal information, including my Canadian Social Insurance number, for security, and authentication purposes. 

Every donor will recieve an email from me, with documents confirming that the money has been transferred. 

I am also keeping a detailed running excel spreadsheet, with data downloaded from GoFundMe, indicating how much has been raised, and how much has been transferred to the family. ANY DONOR, regardless of amount is more than  welcome to contact me for detailed information which will be provided immediately (personal details of other donors WILL BE REDACTED, only detailed transaction amounts can be provided), along with a running tally of how much has been transferred and on what date.  All SendWave transactions are also readily available for cross-check purposes.

The first transfer was made this morning at 9:00am EST, Wed Dec 6th.  We had raised CAD 620 as of that time stamp.  All 8 donors who had contributed by this timestamp recieved an email with s confirmation of the transfer made from my personal account.

Introduction and Summary of Events 

My name is Angela Ngaira, and i am a very close friend of Jaameeta Kurji, and the Kurji family. Jaameeta (or as i affectionately refer to her as, "Jam") and i met during our undergraduate degrees in Montreal, Canada in 2001, became fast friends, and have stayed close friends ever since. Jam's family has since become my own.

In November 2016, unknown entities began harassing
the family at their property in Westlands, Nairobi, claiming to be the rightful owners of the land.  Matters came to a head on Sunday Dec. 4th 2016 at around 5am, when  unknown men armed with machetes stormed their family home and robbed them before proceeding to flatten their house using a bulldozer.  While the matter is currently being investigated by the authorities, the Kurji family have lost everything that they have worked so hard for. 

I feel compelled to help. This campaign has been started solely by me, for the express purpose of helping Jaameeta and her family  get back on their feet. I have recieved many inquires from friends on this end of the pond, therefore i feel that we should channel our efforts to show  love and support for our friend and her family.  Those who know Jam and her family can surely attest that they are the kindest, most-open hearted people we have ever met. 

EDIT: I have now spoken to Jaameeta briefly and let her know that her friends have come together to help. I made the first transfer of donations made as of 9:00am this morning.
