Hi! My name is Cindy Garcia. I am an American Citizen anda mother of three. My oldest son Kyle 23, my daughter 14 and Jorge Jr. 12. We are all American Citizens, except my husband Jorge. We need your help to fundraise $7000.00 so that we can adjust my husbands status.Please click here to make a donation.
Jorge and I have been married for 15 years. We tried to adjust my husband's immigratin status and due to our first attorney filimg the wrong paperwork. My husband ended up in deportation proceedings.
We then had to look for a new attorney. Luckily, we found Mayra Miles and Allen Reiter, and they helped us plea to the judge so that my husband could stay with us. Unfortunately we did not succeed. We had to get help from our elected officials, and thanks to their help and the help of the Community Action Program through the UAW , the judge finally agreed to allow my husband to stay with us for two more years.
My husband has been in the United States since he was 10 years old and has lived in this country for more than 28 years. Our kids Soleil and Jorge Jr. are devasted by this whole situation. They are seeing a psychiatrist. They cry every morning on their way to school. We will be together until Nov 24. On this date my husband will have to return to Mexico, a country he does not know.
There is a misconception that,if an immigrant has an American spouse,parent,or child, that there is a legal procedure to legalige that immigranrant. The sad reality is not like that. This is why I am involved in advocacy for immigrant rights. I hope that all of you regardless of party affiliation can donate to help us finalize the final steps in adjusting my husbands status. We do believethat our country has the right to protect our borders,but our families have suffered enough. What we are fighting for is a balanced approach that protects our borders and our families and give us a reasonable option to fix our broken immigration laws.
Now I am asking for your help to adjust my husbands status. We are trying to do the right thing. We are fundraising to help us with the legal fees and travel expenses to go to consulate in Juarez, Mexico. It has been a long struggle , but your donation can make a huge difference to help Jorge in adjustinghis status. If you find it in your heart tohelp us, we really appreciate it.
