Kincaid Regional Theatre (KRT) is a non-profit musical theatre founded 36 years ago in historic Falmouth, KY. Located 35 miles south of Cincinnati, OH, KRT is dedicated to providing professional musical theater performances and arts educational opportunities for the region; reaching rural, suburban, and ubran populations. For our first 35 years we called the Falmouth School Center, the former Falmouth High School, our home. In the winter of 2017, it became necessary for our local school authorities to sell the Falmouth School Center, leaving KRT without its long-time performance venue. Although KRT met success operating as a nomadic musical theatre troop during our 2017 season, the Board of Directors is ready to place roots and cultivate a permenant venue for the theatre.
With the acquisition of the historic Gift Movie Theater building, KRT is excited to embark on the next step in our journey by announcing the kick-off of our capital funding "Building Home" campaign. The property, originally the Gift Movie Theater, is located in historic Downtown Falmouth. Originally a silent movie house, it has since been repurposed for other uses. KRT desires to return the venue to its original entertainment purpose; acting as a catalyst for the further revialization of Downtown Falmouth and the vibrancy of the community. All funds donated to this campaign will be used to renovate the building; creating a performance auditorium, workshop/technical support spaces, areas for education, and administrative offices; allowing KRT to continue and expand its mission.
KRT places heavy emphasis on growing our educational opportunities to children, teens and college students through workshops and musical theatre productions. We are extremely passionate about these efforts because they provide opportunities for young populations from all socioeconomic backgrounds, escpecially in our rural area,www.krtshows.com to participate. The new space will allow KRT to expand our offerings throughout the entire year, ensuring that there is never a dull moment in performance and education activity.
Ultimately, we desire to see Kincaid Regional Theatre stand as a pillar of entertainment and arts education for all ages, contributing to the vibrancy and quality of life for the Northern-Central Kentucky area for years to come.
