Snuttles' Hut Parrot Rescue

Snuttles’ Hut Parrot Rescue and Refuge is a privately owned rescue for parrots and companion birds. Run by Certified Avian Specialist, Dianna Larson, it is the only Parrot Rescue in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Although I have been fortunate enough to have had some donations, the time has come where I need to ask again for donations. For the past more than twenty years I have been running this rescue and funding it myself. But now the time has come that I need to either expand this rescue facility, or at least get my current facility updated and to a safe state.
My current facility is also my home, where I live with 12 parrots of various species, and five rescue dogs that I have taken in and trained. Some of the birds here are special needs and can not be re-homed, and none of the dogs here can be re-homed for various reasons.

Recently I have had to turn away several birds because I just do not have the room here, nor do I have the funding that I need to keep my doors open. I am working on a shoestring, and that string is very frayed and breaking.

Since starting Snuttles’ Hut Parrot Rescue and Refuge, I have become disabled and I am now on a very limited income. I do everything myself here, including cleaning the cages, feeding, watering, and even making toys for the birds in my care. There are no volunteers, but if I can somehow find a way to expand this rescue, I do have volunteers lined up and ready to help.

The time has now come that I need to ask for help from the public if I am going to be able to help more of these beautiful creatures of God. I am not a 501(c)(3) registered not for profit, but I do the same things that a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit does.

Please, if you can find it in your heart to help these babies and send donations, not only would I be grateful, but all of the animals here would also be very grateful. These animals have been abused and neglected before they came here, and they have never had a reason to trust a human being until they came here. Now they are learning to trust and love, and there is so much more that I could do with help.

I can take donations either through GoFundMe, or through PayPal. If you send a donation through PayPal, please put a note that says “Rescue”. Every penny that is donated will either go towards an expansion of some sort to the facility so that I can continue to help more of these helpless birds. Donations will also be used for things like vet bills, food, toys, cage repairs, cleaning supplies, and so on to help these, and even more companion birds to be happy and healthy.
