Kourtney Sullivan's Transplant Surgery

Diabetes is a thief: it’s trying to steal my sister. To be honest, it has already stolen most of her life. The good news is Kourtney’s not fighting alone—she has family. The bad news is, family’s no longer enough. Kourtney needs a kidney & pancreas transplant. It is her one and only hope.
My Sister Kourtney
At the very young age of 13, Kourtney was diagnosed with diabetes. All these years she’s handled it like she does all things--she handled it like a champ. She never complained, asked for or needed help, and she never let her disease define her. Diabetes never stopped her from bringing joy to our family, being the life of the party or caring for others. Her spot-on imitations of family members and celebrities kept us laughing even while she was hurting. My daughters, Kinsley and Emerson, have life-long favorite memories of playing with Auntie Kitty at Holden Beach. Kourtney made a treasure trove of memories for us all.
Kourtney’s Health/Diabetes Journey
In December of 2017, doctors discovered that Kourtney had kidney disease. Soon after, seizures began. By February of 2018 my hard-working sister was unable to continue her medical office work helping others get the care they needed. Her condition continues to deteriorate to this day. Dialysis, infections around her dialysis port, a chest port, countless ER visits, and heart catheterization have taken a profound toll on this once vital young woman. Kourtney now has stage 4 renal failure and needs a pancreas and kidney transplant.
How You Can Help Kourtney
For years Kourtney was able to manage her diabetes alone. When it became too much, our family eagerly stepped in. Today it’s more than we can do. Kourtney needs all the help she can get. She needs you.
We are grateful for anything you can give. Every dollar will go to offset her medical costs and the associated expenses. Your gifts will enable Kourtney to completely focus on her health and healing and move past this incredible challenge to the bright future that awaits her.
With the love and support of everyone, diabetes will not steal Kourtney. With your help she will continue to imitate like a pro, rock every party, and bring joy to all she meets. She will see her nieces and nephew grow up. She will go on making memories. Kourtney will make the world a better place.
