Kongs for Humane Society Dogs

For his 2017-18 100th Day of School Project, Mason Hetherington has set a goal of collecting and donating 100 KONG brand dog toys to the Worcester and Wicomico Humane Societies. Did you know that it takes potential adopters less than 70 seconds to evaluate a dog in a shelter, and that a dog’s perceived playfulness is one of the top 3 most important factors? However, when a dog is locked up in a kennel all day they become bored, anxious, and scared. Anxiety can manifest itself as aggression, and as a result many dogs are perceived as “mean” and are not adopted, eventually having to be euthanized. When shelter dogs are seen playing with toys, adoption rates skyrocket! Every year, around 1.2 million dogs are put down at shelters across the U.S. How can you help Mason achieve his goal and help these dogs find their forever homes?
