Kolton "Kole" Smith is a 17-year-old high school offensive lineman and my younger cousin. I have to say younger and not little because he's darn near 300 lbs.

On Friday, June 29th, 2018, at approximately 3:30pm, Kole was in a single vehicle accident while driving home from his girlfriend Tabby's house. While details are fuzzy, what we know for sure is that his truck flipped and he was ejected. After being airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, we learned that he had broken his back. After he got out of surgery, his surgeon (we appreciate the TGH staff so much already!) informed us that his spinal cord is not severed, however, a few vertebrae were broken and repaired with pins. He is currently surrounded by our loving family and continues to poke fun at his big brother, Klay. We're anticipating lots of visitors in the coming days (loving mom Nikki and dad Karl ensure someone is always at his side). While his exact prognosis is unknown at this time, he is stable and on the road to recovery.

We're raising $10,000 to help our family with medical expenses, like:
-Out of pocket maximum for health insurance
-Physical therapy
-Medical equipment
-A new car
-And more

There are so many unknowns right now. The less emotional strain we have over finances, the more support we have to give Kole.

And we don't just need help financially, please send prayers our way.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for whatever you're comfortable giving. Anyone who knows Kole knows he has the biggest heart. It's our turn to give to him like he's always willing to give to us.

Please spread the word and share this campaign.

We threw Tabby a party to celebrate her 18th birthday in the cafeteria this afternoon. There was quite a turnout! We enjoyed watching as Tabby opened her presents. We had pizza, sandwiches, cupcakes and cookies.

Kole is starting to rack up some miles in his new chair. He was able to go outside the other day and is looking forward to more adventures this week.

Thanks for your continued support. Please share.

Kole enjoyed physical therapy today. He got into a chair and was very excited about it (see picture). They're still trying to find a large enough wheel chair for him. We're confident he'll be rolling himself around in no time.

All that activity tuckered Kole out, so we watched a movie (Idiocracy) in the afternoon. Bradley and his mom brought us some pizza to munch on.

Happy 4th of July! We got there this morning, joining Nikki, Karl, Tabby, her dad, Tasha, and a sleeping, snoring Klay.

Kole was in great spirits. He's anxious to get into a wheel chair. Physical therapy had a skeleton crew for the holiday and are back in full force tomorrow. The plan is to get him working on those exercises then.

We're almost 60% to our goal. We sincerely appreciate your generosity. I'm adding a picture of Kole and me from today, which you can see in GoFundMe, but not on Facebook.

Kole moved into his new room from the ICU to the pediatric floor. Naturally, they had trouble finding a bed big enough for his 6'2" frame.

We had tons of visitors today. One of his friends brought by an Xbox. He's hooked on fortnite.

Nikki told Karl visiting hours are from 8-830. Karl remarked what a tight window that is! (It's 8 am to 830 pm....lol)

This room is where Kole will be discharged from. He's continuing his rehab by working on sitting up and moving side to side.

Our fundraising has leveled off a bit but we're inching closer to our goal. Thanks again for your support. Have a safe 4th.
