Purple Dusk: The Reflection Ep
My name is Brandon Aka King of Heartz and I am an R&B singer, songwriter and beat maker from Scarborough, ON.
Almost six months ago my backpack was stolen; containing my laptop, hard drive and song books, amongst several other items. Most of my photos, song lyrics, original beats, performances and songs were lost.
The photos I had were close memories of my childhood, the growth of my nieces and nephew, family photos and performances. My laptop also contained the only copies of many of the songs and beats that i made for my EP. Every song that i wrote and each beat that I made I formed a personal connection with. So being without my laptop made me feel like apart of me was missing.
I put so much time and effort into my work and to know that I was so close to completing my project, only to have everything taken from me in an instant made me feel hurt. For months I would think about what happened but I had no motivation to do anything about it and I didn't have the funds to replace what was lost.
My home life at the time was very toxic and my project was one of the only things keeping me sane. Knowing that my laptop was stolen by someone living under the same roof as me at the time, was messing with my head. My environment and some of my peers continued to bring my spirits down and I didn't have the same amount of ambition that I did when I began my project.
Since then i have been saving up to replace all my equipment and trying to execute a new EP. I started by changing the people around me and my environment. I had a mentor that advised me to go to a media arts program that led to a 4 month internship at an audio house. For the past 3-4 months I have been working on executing a new Ep called "Purple Dusk:The Reflection"; which was inspired by the challenges and experiences I've had in the past 2 years. This EP serves as a reflection of how much I've grown as an individual and an artist.
For this campaign I'm hoping to raise $5,000.
The money will strictly be used towards funding my Ep and equipment. I plan to divide the money up to cover the cost of:
A Laptop
Marketing
Mastering
Studio time
CD Cover (front, back )
Hard copies of Ep
Promo/Business cards
Merchandise
Music Videos

This is my passion and i want to do this for the rest of life. I've studied the business aspect of the music industry and I am confident I can make a living off music and support myself and take care and give back to loved ones.
