Thomas's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

I have made this GoFundMe for my cousin Thomas. He is a 28 year old guy who lives in Pennsylvania which is where he was born and raised. For over three long years he was in and out of the hospital constantly due to various health issues including early stage stomach cancer, peptic ulcer disease, diverticulitis, IBD, and recurring intestinal obstructions. He was in very rough shape as some of you know.

He was hooked up to machines with tubes down his nose and throat into his stomach for many months. He sometimes went weeks without solid food or drink, subsisting only on IV fluid. He endured tremendous pain due to painkillers no longer being effective. His body has absorbed massive amounts of radiation from countless scans. He lost most of his muscle and weight at different times. Every time he began to recover he ended up right back in the hospital. Often waiting in the ER lobby for many hours in agony until a doctor could be seen.

His health recently recovered to a state where he can function again and he is doing much better now thankfully. The cancer was successfully treated through surgery and chemo and has not reappeared. Though there are still days when he experiences severe abdominal pain which is debilitating. And the intestinal obstructions are a constant threat which could be fatal if not treated quickly. The diverticulitis and IBD will be a lifelong battle. His health is by no means perfect, but it is manageable.

However, as a result of his illness and the relentless pattern of hospitalization he has accumulated very large medical bills. Medical bills that are crushing him and that he currently cannot even make the minimum payments on. Because of his illness he wasn't able to consistently work and didn't make very much money. He was laid off from multiple jobs because of it.

His credit is already ruined and he has not been able to acquire much needed financial assistance. He has already sold most of what he owns in order to raise funds to pay the medical bills. The only things left of value that he owns and can afford to part with are his computer and digital computer video game collection and a few other things which he has agreed to allow me to give away to donors. He does not want to ask for help for nothing in return.

It was I who convinced him to allow me to make a GoFundMe for him as he did not want to ask strangers for help. He is a very private person and doesn't have many close friends or family, and those that he does aren't well off enough themselves to be able to help in a significant way. His only potential support and social networks are the two groups that he has enjoyed playing games with during this difficult time and kind strangers.

He would not ask for donations himself, but I figure if a fair amount of people donate a little bit then it might add up and put a dent in his medical bills and give him a fighting chance to get them under control. He has about $27,000 in medical bills that need to be paid. There are more bills coming, but $27,000 is the immediate and near term problem. However, even raising a small fraction of that would help tremendously and be a blessing.

It's unfortunate that he has a new lease on life, but is now being crushed by medical expenses. His situation is desperate. He could really use some help right now. Any donation would be immensely appreciated as would anything you can do to spread the word. Every little bit helps!

Thank you for your time, consideration, kindness, generosity, and god bless!
