On the 17th August 2015 Scott and Laura Chisholm welcomed their first child, Zoe Grace Chisholm at the Toowoomba Base Hospital. Zoe was immediately transferred to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital NICU as she was unable to breathe for herself and had to be intubated to a ventilator.

Zoe has been receiving ongoing medical care throughout her 109 days of life. Recently Zoe was transferred to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital PICU. Earlier this week, despite all of our prayers she was diagnosed with a Congenital Myopathy. Unfortunately this is a non-treatable and life threatening disease which will eventually cause respiratory failure for Zoe as her muscles are profoundly weak and will not get any stronger. Zoe's doctors have told the family they have never witnessed a case this severe and therefore can not be certain of the amount of time that Zoe has left to spend with her mum and dad.

Scott and Laura have some very tough decisions ahead, but would ultimately love to bring Zoe home for Christmas and whatever time they have left. It would be great if you could help make that happen.

Scott and Laura will care for Zoe 24/7 changing her ventilator and airway circuits, changing her feeding tube and bottles and most importantly helping Zoe keep her airway clear of secretions with regular suctions.

Zoe is fully conscious and is a happy baby most of the time. She can smile, holds hands and kick around in the bath, these moments are precious and ones they will cherish forever. Ultimately this family is hoping not to miss a single one of moments so they have many memories of Zoe to fondly look back on.

The money raised here will go to pay for the family's cost of living as Laura and Scott would like to focus on spending as much time with Zoe once they return home. It will also contribute the many medical bills and any other expenses required to make every second count for this beautiful young family.
