Hi everyone!
This June (yes the one in a couple of months!), of 2017, I am joining a team that will travel to Tanzania, Africa, to climb the continent's tallest mountain. At the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, a group of women, from around the globe, and I will play the highest soccer game ever played. Together, we will raise awareness of the gender inequality that permeates sports worldwide.
Soccer has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and has afforded me so many amazing experiences. On my journey to competing at the highest level in women's soccer - one thing became apparent - the playing field is not equal. Even though I live in a country that supports and actively promotes women's participation in sports, we still have a long way to go. And, unfortunately this is not the case for many women around the world.
I have been fortunate to have amazing women in my life; family members, mentors, coaches, teammates, friends and I'm taking on this challenge to showcase my love for them and to continue to strive for equality for women worldwide.
In order to complete this momentous challenge, I need your help! Your donations will help alleviate the cost of not only my own flights, gear, and trekking fee; but also, I aim to support another woman on this journey who is not lucky enough to have the large, supportive community that I do. Funds will also be donated to the equal playing field campaign, supporting other young women like me. Please join me in this important initiative.
