Klaudia's Medical Fund

February 2020, Naas-Ireland

Hello everyone Klaudia here!

First of all I would like to thank everyone who donated, shared, helped in any way and for all the lovely messages I received. One of my best friends (Natalia) created this page and started the fundraiser 4 years ago (2016),  after receiving the devastating news about me being in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), on life support, fighting for life...I suffered a massive brain stem stroke, while on a holiday in Poland which left me with Locked-in syndrome.  I’ll always be thankful to her, all my family & friends and all of the people that I haven’t even met, for supporting me! I couldn’t believe how much of a success this fundraiser was and how many people were cheering me on. Thank you again!

The money raised went towards buying a plinth, standing frame, standing turner and a commode for home. We also managed to put some funds towards buying a wheelchair accessible car. These are only some of many things that helped a lot! I was able to return to Ireland and get into a good rehabilitation clinic. I’m also able to travel  easier and continue exercising, while at home every weekend. I can’t really list and explain the importance of the help we received as a family, but I can definitely assure you that it had a huge impact on making this whole process a little bit easier...

I’m going to take over and reactivate this fundraiser to cover further rehabilitation expenses. I’m still in an active rehabilitation, a process that’s taking much longer than I initially expected, but I’m refusing to give up! I’m delighted to say that my core strength has finally improved to the point that I’m strong enough and ready for body support system rehabilitation. This is a machine that has a harness attached to a ceiling with a treadmill under it, allowing your legs to move with body weight support. This re-teaches the brain to walk again. I’m hoping to participate at least 3 times a week and there’s only a few places in Ireland that have this available per hour. It would be a great addition and complement what I’m already  working on during physiotherapy sessions. I’m currently trying to lift feet up off the ground to take a step, while supporting myself in an atlas frame. I’m also hoping to start aquatic therapy to help decrease the tone I have in my body and also help to move more, as the water takes away the body weight.

There’s more news! I decided to write my own personal blog about my journey so feel free to give it a read:

I thought that launching the fundraiser along with the blog, would be a great way of keeping you updated on my progress and also give you an insight into my journey. Thank you all in advance! ❤️x
