Please Help Us Make the Old Church Bell Ring Again
Tax deductible
In 1891, Immanuel United Church of Christ (the little church with the red doors) at Western & North avenues in Bartlett, Illinois, was built and became the town’s only church. In 1893, the Ladies Aid raised funds to buy and install the 609 lb. bell that called its congregants to worship, rang out the hours for the townspeople and surrounding farmers, and alerted the town of events and emergencies. The sounds of the bell have become part of the lives and the collective memories of Bartlett residents past and present. However, for the past year, due to stabilization issues, and broken mechanization, the bell has fallen silent. The congregation of the IUCC is reaching out to the Bartlett community and beyond to help support our cause to raise funds and to restore the sounds of our church bell. We hope that the tradition of church bells, and the importance of keeping them ringing, will resonate beyond our small congregation, and inspire many to aid us in our cause. Thank you so very much!
