Will & Grace, two approximately 6 week old kittens were brought into a veterinary clinic in Benicia, CA on 13 Oct 16. It was reported that the kittens were going to be used as pitbull bait. Both kittens had their tiny limbs bound by rubberbands so that they would be unable to scratch the dogs or try to get away.

There was hope for both kittens to see a full recovery but unfortunately,  Grace succumbed to her injuries. Will is currently being fostered but has a long road to recovery ahead of him. With that being said, it is very likely that costs related to Will's ongoing care will be high. We desperately need help in covering costs and ensuring that Will receives the treatment and care that he deserves!

Anything helps.  Just know that it is going to a good place. Also know that PetFood Express has agreed to match dollar for dollar up to our initial campaign goal which is amazing!

Animal control is currently investigating the situation and fully intends on finding out who was involved in the abuse of Will & Grace.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post in its entirety. It is extremely important that we do what we can do to protect and shelter our animals. Please support Will & Grace by donating! Your donation and generosity will not go unnoticed.

This sadistic cruelty is beyond the pale -- society WANTS and NEEDS to find these monster-criminals and throw them in prison for several years -- dog fighting is illegal -- using animals as bait in activities that are deemed illegal is an additional illegal ! -- The horrific activity of Dog Fighting MUST be SHUT DOWN throughout -- the penalties MUST be severe -- in addition to lengthy jail time, severely high monetary penalties MUST be added -- we do NOT want repeats of such brutality against animals EVER AGAIN ! -- DO NOT LET THE IDIOTS GET AWAY WITH THEIR HIDEOUS ACTS WHETHER OR NOT MENTAL ILLNESS IS AN ISSUE.

I have no money to give you but this makes me beyond sick. Please make sure that those responsible for this pay for what they are doing. They will continue to harm animals if they aren't stopped... People never cease to amaze me on how disgusting they can be...

How is Will doing? It's been a while since we heard anything. I hope the vet was able to save his other leg, and that he has been adopted, or will be soon.

I don't mean to be a pest, but it would really be useful to know whether Will made it, whether he's been adopted, and generally what's up.

Hello, The Solano County Friends Of Animals (SCFOA) kindly reported the following in an e-mail to me on 04/18/17: "Will is doing fantastic! He recently had his neuter surgery and has recovered from that. After he lost one of his hind feet, we had to wait a few months to determine the best treatment for him. Because of where the stump is, the options are prosthetic or further amputation so he's not actually walking on the bone. He will have a consult with UC Davis in the next couple months. His foster family will be his forever family as they have grown to deeply love Will. Will especially loves Katie, his teenage foster mom whom he bonded with and trusted from the day we took them in. He is a little shy with strangers but is healthy, happy, playful, and all the things a kitten should be. I will try to get some updated pictures of Will and post them to our Facebook page. Thanks so much for asking about him. We are all pleased he's recovered so well." HOORAY FOR WILL, HIS FOREVER FAMILY, HIS DOCTOR, SCFOA, AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED WILL!! We hope that the doctors at UC Davis continue his healing. Such a grand, gutsy, little guy!!! Dear Will, we are ROOTING for you.

Hello, Yesterday, 02/22/17, the Benicia Chief of Police, Erik Upson, kindly notified me that Will is doing great, though losing one foot. Also, the criminals who hurt Will & Grace were not caught. They are still out in the world. The damn bastards. But Will is triumphant. The ugly bastards hide and skulk -- and Will lives free and loved. Thank you to Will's doctor and Will's foster mommy. Maureen Kamiya ========================= From: Erik Upson To: Maureen Kamiya Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 3:03 PM Subject: RE: the kittens / the criminals who hurt them Dear [Ms.] Kamiya, I followed up with my Animal Control Officer who reached out to the jurisdiction in question. The kittens were found abandoned and so there were not enough leads to make an arrest. Unfortunately the female kitten had to be euthanized due to gangrene. The male is doing great, though he lost one foot. I appreciate your concern and wish you the very best. Regards, Erik ================================= From: Maureen Kamiya Sent: Tuesday, February 21, 2017 9:59 PM To: Erik Upson Subject: the kittens / the criminals who hurt them Hello, Mr. Upson, You were so kind and attentive about the poor kittens. Were the criminals who hurt the kittens caught and punished? Maybe criminals like that can't be rehabilitated. I know you said that it was not a Benicia crime, but I'm hoping you know what has happened. There have been no recent updates about the surviving kitten, Will. Thank you for your time.
