2018 hasn't been the year I planned, but as a new year approaches I want to accomplish one of my biggest dream, participate in the World Surf League Qualifying Series 2019.
Hi, my name is Kirra Silver and I'm 19yo. Born in Mexico City and raised in Puerto Escondido also known as Surfers Paradise, started surfing at the age of 5 and started competing when I was 16.
In my 3 years competing I've been able to represent my country in the ISA Jr. Championships in 2017 and in the PanAm Trials where I was able to get 6th place in the shortboard and longboard women's, as well to be ranked 6th in the ALAS Latin Tour 2018 on shortboard and longboard women's. And now I'm the current Mexican National Longboard Champion .
My favorite thing about competing is going to amazing surf spots, meeting incredible people, learning new cultures and being able to do what I love most, surf and have fun.
But it's not easy to travel around the world, I have a stable job where I live and also side jobs that are swimming lessons and Stand up paddle tours, even doing all of that isn't enough to cover all the expenses that it takes to travel doing QS.
My first trip will be to Australia to participate in 4 events during the months of February and March. Any help you can provide I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
2018 no a sido el ano que planee, pero con un nuevo ano acercándose quiero realizar uno de mis mas grandes sueños, participar en la Liga Mundial de Surf (WSL) series calificadoras del 2019.
Hola, mi nombre es Kirra Silver tengo 19 anos. Nací en la Ciudad de Mexico y crecí en Puerto Escondido, Oax. también conocido como el paraíso de los surfistas, empece a surfear a los 5 anos y a competir a los 16.
En mis 3 anos compitiendo he podido representar a Mexico en varias ocasiones, en el Mundial ISA Jr. en 2017 y en los Panamericanos de Surf 2017 donde obtuve el 6to lugar en tabla corta y tabla larga open femenil, al igual ser rankeada 6to en el Tour Latinoamericano ALAS en tabla corta y tabla larga open femenil. Y ahora soy la campeona nacional de tabla larga.
Lo que mas me gusta sobre competir es poder ir a lugares increíbles para surfear, conocer a gente increíble, aprender nuevas culturas y poder hacer lo que mas me gusta, surfear y divertirme.
Pero no es fácil viajar por el mundo, tengo un trabajo estable donde vivo al igual que algunos trabajos extras como dar clases de natación y hacer tours de stand up paddle, y hasta haciendo todo eso aun no es suficiente para cubrir todos los gastos que se necesitan para viajar compitiendo.
Mi primer viaje sera a Australia para participar en 4 eventos en los meses de Febrero y Marzo. Cualquier ayuda que puedan proveer se lo agradezco desde el fondo de mi corazón.
