Kimberly Briard was watching her daughter cheer at the Palm Beach Central football game when shots rang outside the stadium.  She was trampled trying to escape the football game and broke her femur at the top of her hip.  The result is she will undergo a complete hip replacement and will be out of work for many weeks.  Kimberly is the Mentor Coordinator at Take Stock in Children and was a volunteer coordinator with Palm Beach County schools for many years.  Please help offset some of Kimberly's mounting medical bills and lost wages due to the unfortunate event.  Together we can pull together as a community to help support her through her recovery.

Here is an update from Kimberly:
Hello to all my family and friends. I am finally able to give an update on my condition. First I cannot express enough all my appreciation of the out pour of love and support I have received all week. The visits at the hospital from family, friends, teachers, and students, the beautiful flowers and fruit arrangements, balloons, the student cards from PBC and Glades Central High School, the phone calls, messages, even gifts I received that I have no idea who they were from, LOL..The Go Fund Me page, etc. All this support has sustained me all week dealing with the pain and trauma of the my injury. I am still at the hospital and might go home tomorrow or Saturday. Surgery went well. I have a great new hip, just need to learn how to use it. Making progress everyday, baby steps using my walker. OMG I can't believe I have a walker. But again I a grateful it was not worse or worse for anyone else. I had a couple of set backs after surgery, but bouncing back. I have a few weeks of therapy and I hope to literary be on my feet walking again without any help in 4-6 weeks. I probably gained 30 pounds with all the darn liquids pumped into me, but whatever, I will lose it. Wellington Regional has been wonderful from E.R. to Post Op and therapy. Their staff, nurses, CNA, cafeteria people, cleaning, doctors and my surgeon, OT's and PT's were outstanding. I am so grateful for the care I received here this last week. I have to take one day at a time and not get overwhelmed. Yeah right easier said than done. With all that happened I get to look forward to another surgery possibly in October. It was suppose to be in September but of course has to be delayed until I am healed. This is crazy, but I have to take it in stride and ask myself what is God trying to teach me through all of this. So I have a long road ahead these next few months. Prayers, and support will sustain me and help me through. My husband Bill has been incredible trying to hold things together in the mist of our house being upside down due to renovations trying to get it in place that is safe and ready for me to come home. It was unfortunate that this injury happened and everyone at PBC had to experience such a terrifying incident. But I hope everyone stays strong and heals and let nothing stop them from having a great school year and football season. GO BRONCOS!!! Thank you again to everyone for every well wish, thoughts and prayers, and just the love and support given to me and my family. My Love to All! ❤️

Kimberly had a full hip replacement completed Monday night. While the expectation for her recovery is to take it day by day, it is hopeful that Kimberly will take a few steps this afternoon and possibly sit in a chair. The family is currently considerating options for a rehabilitation center and home physical therapy.

The Briard family is overwhelmed with the emotional and monetary support the community has provided and is grateful for your generosity.
