My Best Friend's Surgeries

For the first time in a long time, I feel alone and hopeless without my best friend.

If I have to describe Kiki in one word, it would be"exceptional". Unlike most cats, he loves the feeling of water on his paws and stomach, and would occasionally wait until I finish showering so he could go and splash water around with his paws. Since our bathtub faucet was leaking, he was in the tub playing with water all morning. At 8 in the morning right after I finished my finals, I found him wet with litter stuck to his fur. I was both disgusted and amazed by how he could've gotten himself in that situation. So, like any sane cat parent, I chased the little guy down to try and bathe him, but he took that as an invitation for more play time and ran to the laundry room, only to jump and fall in the crack between the wall and the washing/drying machines.
He ended up being tangled in the machine cords and his hind leg was so wedged between the two machines at a weird angle, that he actually yelped out in pain. But as he was wrestling the cords and I was trying my best untangling and taking lint away from his face, he let out another loud cry and he was finally free.
However, I knew that something was completely wrong because he started hissing and crying with every single touch. The poor baby was in so much pain that when he was on the bed with me and the blanket was over both of us, a slight tug on the blanket had him crying and growling. I decided to take him to the nearest vet.
We were admitted in right away and he was put under anesthesia. The doctor showed me an X-ray and I saw that KiKi's femur was completely broken in half, his bone was shifted and he needed immediate surgery.
My heart broke.
Kiki was, is, and always will be my baby. I was more than willing to have him fixed. I was all for it until I was told that it would cost at least "a couple thousands"--something that a full-time student like me would never have. Luckily, I was able to set up a payment plan and the doctor was so understanding of my situation that he offered to operate on Kiki himself instead of transfering him to a specialist an hour away. I have been paying off as much as $600. You can see below that a pin was placed inside of his bone to keep the broken pieces together.

However, things took for another unexpected turn and Kiki's conditions became worse. As of today, he is constantly expressing that he is in pain even when he is on his pain medications. The vet fears that he might've damaged his nerves, and this will need more than just the pin to fix.
The reason why I'm here today is to extend my hands to those who are willing to help or give us prayers in our time of need. All of the fund toward this campaign will be used to pay off the surgery bill for my best friend and also for the upcoming surgery of removing the pin. This will mean the world to me, because Kiki is the closest to family that I have when I'm 400 miles away from home for school. This will also mean the world to Kiki, because he will be able to receive the best care possible for his conditions without looking at the options of being handed over or being euthanized.

Thank you for reading through my post, and I hope that through this, Kiki will soon recover and can be his old self again.
Sincerely,
Kiki & Thao
