Kidney for Scott

Donation protected
Hi everyone!
Scott is doing great with his new kidney! And I have a sweet message from his amazing mom who was here with him for the surgery and after. Deep gratitude to her and all of you! xoL

To all the wonderful Donors and Support Group for Scott’s journey from the beginning through to the kidney transplant,

Your generosity and love is amazing!  I am honored to be a small part of this group.

I am so grateful for this loving circle of friends that surround Scott.  May God bless each of you in the coming years for your loving hearts.

Thank you all so much.

Sincerely,

Sheila Picard, Scott’s mother

As many of you know Scott found out in May of this year that he has chronic kidney disease. His diagnosis is very serious. He has been on dialysis since then to stay alive while starting the process to look for a donor. While the 14 hour of daily dialysis is saving his life it is also very hard on his body with potential irreversible long term side effects. His latest diagnosis is that his kidneys are further deteriorating and his overall health is being greatly affected. Therefore the need for him to have a kidney transplant has increased in urgency.

We all know Scott to be a very strong man. His strength of heart is one of his inherent qualities that we all have experienced time after time through all the ways he gives to all of us who know him. He cannot help to show up in life with courage and an immense capacity to make a difference in the lives of those he encounters. His love for life always finds expression in one way or another in his unique way to empower others, and to give of himself. It is inevitable that anyone who is challenged with a life threatening disease is brought face to face with confronting their mortality. Scott is doing so with this same courage and with great dignity, but it is clear that he cannot do this alone. It is for this reason that all of us who love him must come together and do what we can to support him.

While he has good insurance that covers most of the cost of a transplant, there are other medical, transplant related and donor related costs.

Bellow is the break down of the funds we need to raise:

- $7,000 Insurance deductible as of January 2019
- $3,500 left of 2018 out of pocket medical costs
- $6,000 Medication Costs ($500 per month out of pocket medication that are not covered by insurance for the length of one year.)
- $9,000 To Support Scott After the Transplant / specialized recovery care and living expenses related to transplant (2 months at $4,500 per month)
- $16,500  Transplant donor costs (Travel costs, medical diagnostics pre-surgery and medical costs post surgery)
- $3000 contingency fund and post transplant medication

TOTAL AMOUNT: $45,000

Sharing this on Facebook and helping to spread the word would be greatly appreciated - Facebook page we created for Scott .  When Scott has his surgery there will be daily updates here so follow along if you would like to see those.

Thank you for your love, contribution and support.
