Help Charlie kick cancer
Our dear Charlie has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, a rare prostate cancer in dogs that is aggressive and lethal. Without treatment, the vet told us Charlie wouldn't make it beyond 3 months. The only treatment option that offers Charlie the best chance of survival is radiation thearapy, 5 days a week for 4 weeks. His medical costs will likely go well over $11,000. These treatments, along with all the other tests, vet visits, and specialists, are beyond our means financially right now. In addition, he will also need continued follow-up after radiation is done. But we want to fight for him to help him beat this and will do whatever it takes. He is an only child and the love of our lives. Not to mention, he is the most loving, loyal, and amazing dog in the whole world. He is more than a dog, he is our baby.
Charlie is a handsome 10 year old mini dachshund...well, maybe more of a tweeny...and he is our best buddy in the world. It was October of 2005. A good friend's dachshund gave birth to a litter of puppies and Randy decided it was time to open his heart to another dog for the first time since he was 15 years old. There were a few other people there looking at the puppies. The pups were all running around with that crazy, fun puppy energy, saying hello to everyone. All except for one single pup...the runt of the litter, who timidly walked up to Randy...and no one else. His eyes lit up as his little tail wagged furiously. In that moment Randy's dog found him and he knew he found his dog. They were meant for each other. ..human and canine soulmates. From that moment on, they have been inseparable...two peas in a pod...best friends for life. Randy wrapped Charlie in a blanket...only 6 weeks old and brought his baby boy home.
Charlie is such a special dog to us and everyone who knows him. He brings a smile to everyone he meets. He is so smart and talented...he's even an aspiring actor. I don't think there is a trick he can't do. He has been in a few commercials and a few short films with his daddy who is also an actor. He lives for camping and digging for gophers. And as you can see, from the video, he loves to talk. Charlie Brown has so much more joy and smiles to bring to the world.
We are thankful for any amount that anyone chooses to give. Every bit makes a difference & every message of love & support means the world to us! If there is anything left over of donations after his medical bills are paid, we will donate the remainder to Pet Cancer Research and The Dachshund Rescue of San Diego. As a means of giving back, (when Charlie kicks the crap out of this horrible cancer) we want to get Charlie registered as a therapy dog, so he can visit kids in the hospital who are fighting cancer and inspire them to beat cancer like Charlie did. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
We love all of you!
Charlie, Julie, and Randy
