Fundraising to Rescue an Elementary School: A Newton North High School & AICAM Collaborative
The Methodist Elementary School (pictured above) located in Osuk Ediene, a village in Ikono Local Government, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is one of seven elementary schools in the greater Ediene area.
Given the deplorable state of the school and the obvious and desperate needs of the residents, particularly the children, of Osuk Ediene, the Akwa Ibom Community Association of Massachusetts (AICAM) and students of Newton North High School's Leadership Class of 2015 have collaborated to raise funds to repair the school's main building (pictured above).
The estimate for this project is $15,000. Our goal is to raise the required funds, and initiate this phase of the project by April 2015. As of December 2014, AICAM had raised $9,000. This was done largely through personal contributions from members of the association, their friends and well-wishers.
Despite our effort, we have still not met our fundraising target, and would greatly appreciate any financial assistance in order to move forward with our goals.
