Moose Jaw Medical Mission Guatemala

The Moose Jaw International Medical Mission: Guatemala are a team of doctors and nurses getting ready to embark on a medical mission to the poverty stricken municipality of Patzun, Guatemala. Guatemala is a third world country, struggling to meet the large health care demand of its people, and every extra hand helps. If not for professional teams volunteering, many people would not receive proper medical care. The indigenous group we will be working with make up over 70% of those in extreme poverty in this country.

We are so blessed to have the health care system in Canada, and we want to give back! The Mission team would love it if you can join us in our efforts to make this happen!

The Mission team will be working alongside Clinica Corpus Christi, a small, nun run, 24 bed hospital and orphanage. They have three operating theaters ready for us to us as soon as we get there! Our goal is to perform 30+ surgeries during our time in Guatemala, and are told we already have that many potential patients plus more waiting for medical treatment that we can provide.  We want to bring to these people the best experience possible, and this is how you can help us do that.

We are asking for sponsors, both big and small to help us acquire all the necessary equipment and supplies for our patients. We are raising fund to cover the expenses that come with gathering and transporting supplies, replenishing stock at the hospital, a well covering the cost of those we hire within the hospital to help our small crew out. Our team would also like to sponsor those seeking out help, as they are required to pay a fee of $50 (CDN) for their surgical procedure. This cost is in place to ensure that all preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative equipment is adequately supplied. We would like to reimburse our patients of this fee. We would be happy, if you so choose, to share a little information to our patients about our donators and in return, give you an update about who you helped, how you helped them, and how much your donation has meant to them. 

Our mission will be taking place in February 2016, so every cent counts! We are eagerly anticipating the amazing opportunity we have in front of us. We have the privilege of sharing our combined medical skills in such a way that we're hoping to make a positive impact on the lives of these strangers and their families.
