My name is Dawn Johnson and I am Orchestra Director at KIPP DC: KEY Academy. This summer, two KIPP DC: KEY Academy eighth grade orchestra students have been offered the unique, but necessary opportunity to attend Killington Music Festival (KMF) in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont. While at the festival, our students will spend five weeks being immersed in intensive chamber music coachings with world-class faculty, private lessons, masterclasses, workshops, hikes and excursions, concerts, and experiencing classical music at the highest professional level while building life-long friendships and relationships, an integral part of a student's development as a musician.

Attending a summer music festival of Killington's caliber comes at a cost. Please see below for an itemized list of expenses for a student to attend KMF for the 2015 summer residency program from June 27th- July 31st:

Tuition: $4675 (Includes all private lessons, masterclasses, performances, coachings, lodging, meals, etc.)

Application Fee: $85 Mail/ $95 Online

Average Plane Ticket Cost to Rutland, VT Airport from Washington, D.C.: $400

Average Money Needed for Miscellaneous Expenses (Laundry, Snacks, etc.): $50/Week= $250

 Total Expenses: $5500

Any contribution that you or any other potential donor gives would be directly applied to the abovementioned expenses associated with each of our students attending KMF.
