Kevin's Walk of Faith
A Word from Kevin:
I know this may come as a surprise to many of you because when I see you at the office I am able to smile and push through with my energy for the few minutes that I am with you. What you don't see is that many times I go collapse in the next room immediately thereafter. It is very humbling to be transparent about these things but that seems to be God's lesson for me of late. Complete humility and transparency allowing my friends and family to minister to me. With the continuing GI and IBS type issues I was advised to go back for another MRI just to see what is going on. The good news is that things have not worsened or gotten any larger concerning the tumor. And there is now no mention of any lymphatic involvement! The bad news is that they still see a growth in the lower part of the colon as well as a spot on my liver. I am taking the advice of my doctor and beginning a treatment called Insulin Potentiated Therapy to actively attack the bad cells and get rid of this thing once and for all. This is a very safe and gentle type of low dose chemotherapy that does not have all the side effects of the full strength version. This will require me to receive IV's for that and Vitamin C a couple times a week. These will last for a few hours each time and I really dislike getting IV's in my arm. They usually take two or three attempts before they get it in. Please pray for me to have easier IV's! I have also begun a new GI cleanse product to regulate what is going on in my intestines. This has made things very unpredictable for me and makes being at the office difficult at times. I am extremely hopeful that the next several weeks will yield great results and relief. The research shows that this IPT treatment typically shrinks the tumor to nothing within the treatment period! Thank you for continuing to work with us through this time. Please keep me, my family and the office in your prayers. This will be a very time consuming and costly procedure that is not covered by insurance, but the testimonials of the results are very promising.

The Hay family has touched so many lives, let's continue to life them up!
This may be more rambling than anything. I am just now finding out information that I was protected from when I was hospitalized.
Some of you may know this and many do not. They had my wife planning funeral arrangements for me. They did not believe someone could fight off the severity of infection that I had when I was septic. I never doubted that I would live because of God's Word and His promises. They believed I was in denial, I am living in faith and clinging to His Word. Please keep the prayers coming, I can feel the power from them!
The surgery to the colon had nothing to do with cancer. It was to make sure no more bacteria or other junk could get into the abscess that went septic. They simply cut the colon, sewed up the end and brought the other section through the abdominal wall to a colostomy bag. This has been most challenging, learning how to eat and drink to keep things moving. How to get comfortable sitting and lying down. I've dealt with many of the typical complications during this post op time.
All my tests look good now except for the tumor markers and liver tests. The hospital oncologist is very negative on her outlook. The basically see me as a walking dead man and can't believe that I am functioning and looking as good as I do. They have never seen a healthy person go through this before. All the treatments I have done to boost my immune system and to pursue health have definitely made a huge difference and allowed God's Word to do a work in me.
However, the marker number is continuing to go up every month with my blood tests. So this past Wednesday I began treatment at my holistic MDs office. I have mentioned this before but we never began. It is called Insulin Potentiated Low Dose Chemo. Basically, they drop my blood sugar really low in the office and once it is down enough they give me only 15% of the typical dose of chemo in a sugar mixture. The bad cells love sugar and they soak this up before it can get to the good cells. Thus lowering any side effects and increasing effectiveness of the treatment. They have had great success with this with other patients that are not as healthy as I am. They expect the numbers to stop increasing and to decrease over the course of the 8 visits. Please keep that goal in prayer.
Unfortunately, this is not covered by insurance. Honestly, the full dose stuff that is covered is priced so high that my copay is close to $1000 a visit if I did that. As it is, I will pay $1600 a visit. God has provided so many ways along the way, please be in continued prayer for His provision.
My holistic MD and staff are very hopeful for the outcome and do not see me as a dead man walking. But I wanted everyone to have both sides and see the total picture of what has and is going on.
My treatments will be at noon for the next few weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays. I miss everyone and can't wait to be back in full swing.
I have been staying on our property in the N. GA. mountains and simply enjoying rest and relaxation during this time.
Much Love and Blessings!
I am sorry, forgot to tell you I will definitely keep you in my prayers until you get a clean bill of health. God Bless You and your family.
Why doesn't insurance pay for this kind of treatment? I fell any cancer should be covered by treatment? Not judging you, just would like to know the insurance reason for not covering this treatment you are getting.
